What I'm Loving Wednesday

Christmas Version

- because I was on the ball this year, I am really excited to see the kid's open presents this year, I really think they are going to be happy.

- I am looking forward to saying GOODBYE, SEE YA NEXT YEAR to Cutie and Sophie

- I know a lot of people are sad about Covid ruining plans, I am sort of enjoying the fact that it will be stress free and small

- cooking my first real turkey dinner

- because of Covid, Christmas is going to be spread out a bit...because certain family members won't be around, we have to wait to exchange gifts, so it will be like Christmas keeps going and going...

- did my Christmas groceries yesterday

- got my new hair cut, ready for the new job

- looking forward to the break before starting my new job

- that it won't be snowing for those that have to be away from their families to be plowing snow, BUT, a little bit of snow would be nice...right now we are getting loads of rain and +8

- Boomer is going for his yearly "spa day" at PetSmart tomorrow for his bath, furmination and nail cutting!

{Weekend Rewind}

Christmas is soooo close but yet, I don't feel the excitement.  I think it's 90% to do with the fact that we have all these restrictions because of covid and 10% because we have no nice, fluffy snow.  I am not a snow person, but I do like to see snow for Christmas, and well right now, it's calling for rain.  Yuck.

This weekend:

- Maddy and I did our annual Christmas baking and delivered some to neighbours.

- We were also gifted some homemade goodies too.  Lindsay brought the grown ups her homemade apple pie moonshine and a cute little decorate your own cookie gift for the kids.

- I also got my gift from a secret Santa a bunch of us girls were doing.  I was like one of the last ones and I am pretty sure it became a joke.  Everyone would be posting that they got "elfed" and would show their goodies then the deadline came and I still had nothing.  Then the deadline got extended because maybe some were mailed...and Friday, the day of the deadline, I got it!  Thanks Secret Santa.

- I cleaned and caught up on laundry.

- Watched the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie and rented Croods 2

- Started a new show on Netflix: Tiny Pretty Things

- celebrated Yasmine's 1st birthday (although she didn't want anything to do with pictures)

Monday we were home because Ricky had a doctor's appointment...so I worked from home and because we were home, we were able to help Josee out who didn't have a sitter for the kids, so they came over.  The kids played, we decorated cookies, and they went outside sliding.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- I am all done my Christmas shopping and everything is wrapped and ready to open!

- My new stove is coming Friday and then I can get a start on Christmas baking

- The new fridge is also coming and I am hoping that having the water and ice dispenser will make me drink more water.  New goal for 2021.

- I am basically done work.  Next week my replacement starts and then I will still be coming in until the 23rd basically to watch shows.

- Christmas Eve Boomer is getting is annual bath and nail clipping at PetSmart while Ricky has to go into work for a couple of hours.

- I bought my first turkey the other day and I am excited to be cooking it this year for Christmas.

- I downloaded my Christmas playlist to my phone and I am really loving Dolly Parton's Holly Dolly Christmas and I love Carrie Underwood and her son Isaiah singing Little Drummer Boy.

- We listen to Sophie and Jeff on the morning show on Pure Country.  Last week it was announced that Jeff was actually hospitalized and in rough shape after catching Covid-19 from his father (who unfortunately died from Covid) - but Friday he announced that he was back at home and recovering.  He's not out of the woods yet I don't think.  I think his body has been through a lot, but it's nice knowing he's on his way.

{Weekend Rewind}

This weekend...

- we celebrated birthdays

- Thomas has his 3rd birthday on Wednesday and Friday night we went to his Nanny's to drop off his gift before heading to Birthday #2

- Landyn's actual birthday was Friday and we went there for Fortnite cupcakes and Tanner had a sleepover.

- Maddy and I were on our own as Ricky slept at the camp.

- Saturday morning we celebrated Owen's 1st birthday and went to my brothers for a visit, gifts and cake.

- Saturday afternoon I was wiped out...Maddy and I watched some Christmas movies while Tanner played video games.

- Sunday I didn't plan on doing anything except laundry and make chili.

- but ended up going to the camp for a walk with Boomer and Karine, Yasmine and Carrie joined us.

- After the camp, I just wanted to lay down and watch TV, but I made butter tarts and some rice and sausage to bring up to Chad's for supper.

- Some more cuddles and visits with Yasmine and had a pot luck sorta supper with Chad, Karine and his parents and sister.  

- Came home and watched the newest season of Working Moms

November...is done!

Holy Moly, November has come and gone and I didn't post once.

What has been happening in November...

- it was hunting season, and the Hemlock Hideaway boys got nothing this year.

- we laid Nanny B and Uncle Cal to rest finally.

- we decorated for Christmas - inside and outside.

- Maddy and I made some ornaments out of Papa B's flannel shirts to hang on our Christmas tree.

- despite one major snow storm, we have had some really nice weather, temperature wise!

- Tanner had almost every Friday off for PD days.

- I was off every Friday (and still in December).

- I got a new job and put my resignation in with QinetiQ.

- still dealing with Covid regulations and being in the "red zone".

- finished Christmas shopping and December birthdays.

- got some pics done of the kids.

- watched and finished season 2 of Virgin River.

- had some TV shows start back up but then they decide to take a break already, after two episodes in, ugh.

- Maddy and I spent a PD day shopping and we visited the Buddy vending machine at Bayshore and got us some cake!

- we built a snowman...which lasted one day then the mild temps killed it.

- Cutie and Sophie returned and are quarantined for 14 days.

- Ricky and I bought ourselves a new fridge and stove for Christmas.

Still Hanging In

It's been a while since I updated on our lives and what's been happening!

- we had snow this morning, ugh!  I am not ready for the cold and snow but I think I may appreciate it more this year because of Covid and not having to travel in it as much.

- with that being said, today was the one day of the week that we come into the office...lol

- Halloween is coming up and the kids are excited.  The school had spirit week this week which has been a nice thing for the kids during Covid times.  

- I started watching McLeod's Daughters on Prime and really enjoying it.  On Netflix, Maddy and I are finishing up Gilmore Girls and then finally going to get to Season 11 of Modern Family and then November, my regular shows are starting back up.

- Speaking of shows, I guess tonight is the finale of Big Brother!

- Working from home is still not fun.  I really do get more done when I am in the office.

- The kids both got their progress reports and first time in ever, Tanner got a "yellow" status in French and English.  The French really does suck at our school so Tanner and I have been doing French for 10 mins every day after school.

- Last week was a year that we rescued Boomer and adopted him and we love him so much.  The poor bugger is so used to us being home (since March) that on Wednesdays, he knows we are leaving and it takes two of us to get him into the front room.  Poor pup.

- Christmas is just around the corner and I have gotten Christmas gifts already which is new for me.  I typically wait for the last minute but this year I am off to a good start.  

How is everyone surviving these days?

Our Life

Apparently Covid is taking over the world again (not like it left), things are getting a little scary again with more cases every day.  In our region, they have already decreased the amount of people in gatherings, in restaurants and stuff.  It's only a matter of time that things will be on lockdown again...but I am praying and crossing all my digits that it doesn't.

What's been happening:

- kids are still in school

- Ricky is still at home, although he did go in this week for security training so that when he gets the call to go back in, he will be ready.

- Tanner has started playing baseball in Luskville on Tuesday nights.  Last week was so cold and this week the weather was actually nice but we had to sit in the car cuz the mosquitoes were taking us away.

- Tanner also has been playing soccer on Wednesday nights and it's been good weather wise.  

- Tanner is also signed up and ready for hockey this year, just waiting for final word on what is happening on that front.  Typically we are already on the ice by now.

- Our Home and School Committee bought a tent to set up at the school so that the kids can have shelter when doing "outdoor learning".

- It was set up Friday and by Saturday evening, this happened!

- Now on to Plan B...

- I raided the community garden and made some homemade tomato sauce.

- Fall is here which means that meal preps are starting to include soups and stews.

- This weekend is my plan to decorate for Fall / Halloween

- Speaking of Halloween...there is so much talk of it being cancelled.  I don't think the town has a say in whether it HAS to be cancelled or not, I think it should be your own discretion.  If you don't feel comfortable, then don't hand candy out.  I am making these little tags and attaching an orange balloon and going to give them out all over town...if you want trick or treaters, put our your balloon!

- Today there was a sale on at Ricki's for clearance bottoms, so I picked up some pants for work - it's been awhile since I bought myself clothes.

- While I haven't actually bought Christmas gifts yet, I feel that I have a list for each kid started at least.

- Maddy dyed her hair purple this week.  Not sure what is with her hair.  She has lots of it so we used two bottles but when it's all said and done, you can always see some of her hair and ends up looking just like highlights, which is okay too.  She's happy with the result.

- Boomer has been getting into trouble the last couple of weeks.  When we have to go somewhere and he is left alone, he has been getting mad at us and chewing things.  Last week when we went to Montreal, he got a hold of my work bag and chewed the handles off, ate my snacks inside, ate another bag, and someone managed to open a drawer and eat like 5 white erasers.

- Then the little bastard was alone again for like an hour and he chewed Ricky's work shoe and my Naan bread that was on the counter.

- Sorry Boomer, back to the porch you go when we are gone.  No more freedom.  He has been so used to us being home with him since like March, when we leave, I guess he's lonely and bored.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

That the kids are back to school...and I hope it stays that way cuz I am not sure how we will fair out with online learning because I do work fulltime.

With a new boss at work, he is in Ottawa every other week, so those weeks, I am going to be in the office all week...like 5 days, whoa that is a change, but a good one.

Fall is coming.  As much as I don't like to hurry summer away...I want to bring out the fall decorations and I feel that I can't do that just yet.

Getting rid of the awful flower mess at the front of my house.  I want to just get rid of it all...poof, gone!  I have no idea how to keep bulbs from the perennials that are there (people want them) so hopefully they come with tools and do it soon.

Mars Bars Squares...if you have never tried them, OMG you don't know what you are missing and because it's so easy, I'll tell you how:

1/2 cup of butter in a saucepan on medium heat

Chop up 4 full size Mars Bars and add to pan.

While that is melting, put 3 cups of Rice Krispies in a greased 9x9 (or 8x8) pan.

Once melted, add the Mars Bar goop to the Rice Krispies, stir, pour in pan and press down.

IF YOU WANT (I have had both ways and I prefer no additional chocolate) but you can toss some chocolate chips in a microwaveable bowl, about a cup maybe, melt in 30 second intervals until smooth and throw that on top of the squares.

A couple weeks ago we went to the new Costco in Gloucester and I got a jumbo size jar of pickled turnip...was so excited to crack it open but they weren't good...they were soft, not crunchy. What a let down.

Haven't started Christmas shopping BUT I have been making a list of what I am going to get and so far, Maddy is easy, Tanner, I have no idea really.

My father in law recently moved to a long term care facility and he is LOVING it.  We are all so happy.  He was so against leaving his house for years and now that he's there, he tends to say "I think I should have come sooner".  He has never been happier I don't think.

Random Thursday Post

I am getting really bad and keeping the blog going but I am getting to be at work more often now especially since we got a new boss here in Ottawa.  So I literally have been to work every day, trying to stay home at least one day.

What else has been happening...

School starts tomorrow...although both of my kids schools are doing staggered entries, so both my kids actually start Monday and they are soooo excited to see their friends!

School is going to be different but I am confident that all the guidelines will be met and everyone is going to be fine.  Also, we have a school with 80 children, not big schools like in the city, thank god!

This momma cannot and will not home school.

Aside from the school front...me work, Ricky not.  They are talking about maybe going in at the end of September and doing rotations and Ricky is okay with that.  Besides he will be off soon enough for hunting anyways.

Our spare time, we have been purging the house and cleaning rooms.

I took Maddy's old desk that was made by my Papa Earl and I am giving it a makeover to use as an island sorta thing for my kitchen.  We'll see how that works out.

I also have some projects to clean up the bathrooms which doesn't break the bank but will look less "old person-like".  I need to get some stuff that will paint over the tiles that are currently there to give it a more modern look and these cool stick and peel floor tiles that will just cover up what's there now.  Easy peasy.

I have been starting to think of Christmas and I actually have some ideas for both kids.

We are also starting hockey soon and that means $500 and of course, Tanner pretty much needs all new equipment this year.

I feel that fall is in the air - it's definetly getting cooler at nights and mornings.  I just want to get all my Fall stuff out already!

{Weekend Rewind}

Good Morning!

Sorry for the lack of posts...I feel like its always the same thing.

What's new with us?

Last week we have my father in law move in with us because he kept falling at home, so he finally decided it was time to leave the house.  Too scared to be alone.  He agreed to put his name in the local residence near his place and until his name was "called", he was going to stay with us.  Well that only lasted a week and last week they called that they had a spot and we moved him in last Thursday.  He has been settling in well and seems to like it.

This weekend?

I watched Everlea all weekend for my sister.

Ricky went boating with his family in Campbell's Bay.

My brother, wife and Owen came for a visit which meant that all the grand kids and cousins were all together!

We hung out at the Lapierre's for some swimming, some eating and some even played texas horseshoes.

I slept with a one year old and decided that I love my life without babies.  Everlea apparently wants the room completely black and no light...so no watching TV before bed for me!

Caught up on the first episode of Big Brother All Stars.

Watched the first two episodes of the new season of Wentworth.

Maddy and I started Gilmore Girls.

We talked about going on a mini vacation with friends this week, but I decided that we need to save money for winter tires and some work around the house, so no vacay!

What's Been Happening...

- Covid has been happening but other than having to wear masks everywhere we go now, life is getting back to normal, somewhat.

- we took a last minute vacation last week and headed to Niagara Falls / Toronto for a couple of days.

- the kids enjoyed the little getaway

- the weather has been so hot and humid lately - I am not complaining, but those days I am glad that we have central air and can just chill in the house

- I got two tattoos last week

- we had people over on the weekend to celebrate Ricky's birthday...lots of food, a washer tournament and some pass the ace

- I am going into work Monday, Wednesday and Friday still...but it's flexible

- Ricky has been going out on the boat a lot lately and thinks he's going to buy a pontoon soon...I on the other hand, think not.  Yes, I would love one, but its a big payment!

- I am obsessed with face masks...now that we need them, I just keep buying them and having them made...if I am going to have to wear them, I want variety!

{Weekend Recap}

Happy Birthday to my Dad...and his twin Uncle Cal who passed away last July.  It's the first birthday for my dad celebrating alone.

Ricky left Wednesday with some guys on a fishing trip so it was just us for 5 days.  

Friday we met friends at the beach and literally spent all day there.  It was actually nice just sitting there watching the kids swim and build sand castles while we chatted under my pop up tent in the shade.  When we got home, we kept Gracynn and Landyn while Josee and Evan headed to the city then Tanner spent the night at their place.  Maddy and I went to visit Marlene and Chelsea and was home early.

Saturday morning I slept in until 10 am.  Holy.  Maddy and I got ready and then headed to Shawville.  She had wanted to see a little boutique that sells brand name second hand clothes, so we went there then tried to run errands but the line ups were long and my patience was short.  We went home empty handed and picked Tanner up.  We spent the afternoon watching Annie and napping then we went for a swim at Marlene's.

Sunday morning we all got up fairly early and cleaned the house.  Ricky was coming home at some point so I made a shepherd's pie and was catching up on laundry when I noticed the faucet was leaking.  We emptied under the cupboard, put a bowl and waited for Dad to come and check it out.  Now, I need a new faucet. Ricky got home around 4 and the rest of the night was just relaxing.

On another note, we need some prayers for a lady in our community.  Anne Clarke, the sweetest lady I know had a Hemorrhagic Stroke caused by an aneurysm.  She was rushed to Montreal where she had surgery to remove the aneurysm but there seems to be some brain loss and she remains in a coma.  Prayers are needed for her and her family who are all in Montreal at her bedside.

{Weekend Recap}

I am so glad to be at work, having a little break from a very busy weekend!

Friday we ran to the city for a bank appointment and met my sister to pick up the girls cuz they were staying the night.  It was stupid hot out so when we got home, we brought the girls into the little pool outside.  After supper, we headed to Shawville to watch the Graduation Parade.  We then stopped in at friends place, came home and put everyone to bed.

Saturday was another busy day.  I ran to Shawville while Everlea napped and once I got back, Shannon was there to pick them up and we were packing up to head to the Wickens to celebrate Kaleigh's graduation.  It was stupid hot out and thankful for their pool.  We packed up around 4 to head to Chad's birthday BBQ.  Tanner was having fun in the pool, so he stayed with my sister in law while Ricky, myself and Maddy headed to Chad and Karine's.  It was a nice gathering with lots of food but the sun hit us all and we were home early.

Sunday was Fathers Day.  We went to my father in laws and picked up Chinese for lunch.  After a little visit and a little game of Pass the Ace, we headed home, grabbed Thai for supper and cleaned up the yard.  We went to Mitch and Marlene's for the kids to have a quick swim and then we were all home and in bed early.

{Weekend Recap}

Another covid weekend...but it was a busy one.

Friday I had an early appointment at the Gatineau hospital at the Nuclear clinic for a HIDA test...wasn't sure what to expect.  Maddy wanted to come with me cuz we had some running around to do afterwards but it was a long wait for her in the car.  We got there too early so I had to wait in the car.  Then when it was time to go in, I was told what was going to happen.

- put in IV
- wait in waiting room, 15 mins
- back in CT scan where he will inject something and then I lay still for 30 mins while they take pics of my gallbladder and liver
- wait in waiting room, 30 mins
- back in CT scan to see if they can now view my gallbladder, no go but he makes a call to the doctor on call and he says to proceed to step 2
- injects some sort of medicine that produces my body to have an attack.  I was not ready for this...when I have an attack, it's awful and I didn't want it to happen
- after 5 mins I should feel pain for like 15 mins, but it didn't happen
- lay still for another 30 mins while they take more pics
- leave
- results in 2-3 weeks

I was so hungry and just wanted to get out of there to have something to eat.  Go to car and won't start.  Maddy has drained my battery and my car won't start.  AAAAHHHH!

I have booster cables, but I have no idea how to use them.  I get them out and go looking for someone waiting in their vehicle.  I find a nice old man two cars down and says he knows how to use them and will help me.  Thank to Lord.

5 minutes later, we are on our way!  God, I am glad I bought those $2 booster cables at a yard sale!

Friday night we went to wish Chelsea a Happy Birthday and made her a candy bouquet but were home early, in bed early because we were heading to Dorval the next morning to see Nanny.

We picked mom up and were on our way a little after 7 am and arrived in Dorval around 9:30 with Shannon and the girls right behind us.  Nanny was so excited to see us.  We brought homemade mac and cheese so she didn't have to worry about feeding us and after a nice visit, we hit the road home around 2:30 pm.

Sunday I just wanted to hang out at home, doing nothing. Well I cleaned the bathrooms, cut fruit and stuff and did laundry then while Ricky went fishing, I relaxed and watched Dynasty.  We got dressed around 3 pm and headed to Hollie's parents 40th Anniversary BBQ, made an appearance at Mitch and Marlene's for pizza and then home.

Another weekend has surpassed...and it's Monday and I am back in the office today!

This weekend

- we had a visit with Owen, my brother Adam and sister in law Sue

- we played poker and cards
- we had a BBQ
- I bought my first (well two of them) beef tenderloins and now I am like a professional butcher (thanks YouTube)
- made Boomer some tenderloin treats with the "scraps"
- we did not visit the beach
- we left the kids at home and went to Cabela's and got wings for supper

This week

- hoping to get Tanner to do some school work
- going to help our old daycare, Sophie, fix her lawn
- I have my nuclear test at the Gatineau hospital (for my gallbladder)

{Weekend Recap}

So I feel that every day is a weekend and it's hard to keep track of the days of the week BUT, I am planning on coming in every Monday, so that allows me to recap on what happened over the weekend!

- My sister and the girls came over, we had a great visit

- Friday after I did some work, we went to Hollie's for a swim

- My sister in law came over Saturday for a BBQ

- It rained a lot on Saturday which is great for my little garden.  Super exciting to go out every day and have a look to see what is budding through and thriving.  My radishes are doing great.  I have some onions up, some cucumbers, beans, pea and lettuces - tomato plants and pepper plants still look the same and I have a wee little strawberry starting.  I don't think my cantaloupe is doing okay though.

- My FB Covid Chat group struck again this weekend...in my mailbox I found a lovely keychain with some wood burning.

- I finished the newest episodes on Netflix of Heartland and started Little Fires on Prime while still watching Modern Family with Maddy.

Looking forward to this week:

- in the office today (Monday)

- Helping Maddy with assignments she has for French and English 

- Chatting with Tanner's class on Tuesday - music on Wednesday and Yoga on Friday

- Cleaning my house on the rainy days

- Planning on making cinnamon buns

Still Alive and Well...

Holy moly it's been a while!

My last post was when this Covid-19 just started making the rounds, well since then, holy, things spiralled and we basically have been stuck at home, with our husbands and kids, schools been cancelled, everyone is working from home and everything is gloves and masks!

Well...I have been working home daily from home and then last week I finally came into the office.  They have since opened the bridges so I can cross from Quebec to Ontario and so, once or twice a week getting to the office gives me a break from home.

Home - ugh.  I am not sure how everything will work when we do have to go back to routine.  We are staying up late, getting up late, eating meals sporadically all day and really, just no worries.

We have been well.  We have not contacted the virus nor has anyone in our area thankfully.  

Our schools actually opened last week and there was one child that was attending our school.  Not sure if he's still there this week.  Pretty boring if you ask me.  As for school work at home...Tanner has no interest in it and well I try to keep him reading (his weakness) but other than that, he has some group chats weekly with his teacher and classmates and that's about all.  Maddy is missing school and her friends.  She is doing worksheets that are being sent from the teachers and other than that, she has been playing with her lego, doing some sewing and driving me insane, most days.

We find it much more tolerable when the weather is nice.  The first week we were all confined home it was a beautiful week...we got lots done around the yard and stuff outside.  Then we got hit with cold, winter and snow, right up until last week when it was still cold.  Good news is that this week and going forward looks sunny and hot!  YAY!

Just wanted to check in with everyone.  We are well and alive and just taking one day at a time.

How are we holding up?

Obviously the novel coronavirus is the main news going on - basically everywhere.  Basically everything but the essentials are closed.  It's nuts.  Because Ricky is an essential service he has to come in and because I am a nice wife and hate that he would have to pay for parking everyday, I am coming in too.  To be honest, I get much more done at work anyways.

The streets of Ottawa are definetly quieter and less busy but there are still people around. 

I am bringing my lunch and snacks so that I don't have to leave my office.  

At home, we have food, we have toilet paper, we have games to keep us occupied and thank god for Disney + and Netflix.

What else is new...

- I needed a new thermometer and well, obvious reasons, couldn't find one at three drug stores I went to.

- Children medication too...

- Yesterday I thought about taking the kids bikes out and then this morning we got snow...EFF off already - bring on Spring

- I keep wondering if we are going to have flooding this year?

- The chipstand in town is possibly opening this weekend - that's exciting when everything else in the world is falling apart.

- I started to watch Schitt$ Creek again after failing to find something to watch.

- I finished Burden of Truth - it was good if you are looking for something to watch

- I also went and bought some books yesterday

How are you holding up?

Everyone Take Cover...

So it is finally a pandemic - this coronavirus/covid-19!

And...Ottawa got their first positive case this week...

- I think it's being blown out of proportion 

- I mean, we probably have it and don't even know it...some of the stories I am reading, the symptoms are so mild they didn't know it was anything more than a cold.

- I am however glad that I am not travelling anywhere.  Can you imagine being on a family vacation and only YOU testing positive and being quarantined away at a military base (that's what most resorts are doing).

- I am also glad that this didn't happen while we were cruising...I couldn't imagine being quarantined to a small room for like two weeks

- the whole toilet paper shortage, like WTF?  If you do have it, you will be self isolated for 14 days...I think you will have enough TP.  Also, worse comes to worse, you can use towels.

- I would be stocking up on snacks and food before TP.  Also, people are stocking up on water...uum...will your tap stop working? Nope - relax people.  

- speaking of self isolation...is it just me that thinks it could be devine.  I mean, I catch this virus, my whole family will have to go stay somewhere else and I get to stay in my house, no cooking for anyone and just taking care of ME...sounds like heaven

- Am I avoiding crowds?  Nope, not really.

- Am I washing my hands more than normal?  Nope, I mean I am washing my hands when you are supposed to (before eating, after the washroom etc) and nope, admitting I do not sing Happy Birthday twice (because does it really matter when your work bathroom barely even has hot water?)

- I would be okay with getting some time away from work to work from home, I mean it will come to that I AM SURE...

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- Spring is in the air...its been rainy and foggy and smells like Spring outside

- After two weeks of figuring out what to buy for the school with the $12,000 in grant money for musical instruments, I submitted my quotes yesterday and I am excited to get the new loot

- that I do not have the coronavirus...and in all honesty, I think it's been blown out of proportion (I may get in shit for saying that).  All the media about it is just scaring people.  Luckily, I think in Canada it's very low but I mean, you just don't know it, cuz you don't hear about it, but more people have died from the common flu.  I read an article that some people that had the Covid-19 virus or whatever didn't even know they had it, the symptoms were that mild.  

- I'm getting a new laptop at work...if it ever gets here (its coming from the UK, maybe it's in quarantine somewhere for coronavirus)

- Dad accidently found Maddy's missing phone that she lost at the camp...it wasn't in a snowbank somewhere - it was actually in the truck that three of us checked many times.  

- tomorrow after school Maddy is trying out for volleyball at school.

- looking forward to finally getting Maddy's report card on Friday (the 13th).

- looking forward to the Irish Tea (although, has it been brought to anyone's attention that it should be cancelled because of coronavirus??) at our Church this weekend...it's always a good time.

- I finished a powerpoint presentation for Papa's celebration of life next weekend

{Weekend Rewind}

It was a busy weekend...

Friday we took the day off to do something fun with the kids for their last day of March Break.  We slept in a little, got up and ready and headed to the city to Flying Squirrel.  Shannon and Everlea met us there to keep me company while Ricky and the kids jumped for 90 mins. 

After our time was up, we went across the street to Costco.  Bad idea going there with Ricky AND the kids.  Half an hour later - $582 spent.  Ouff!

My mom was coming in by the train from spending a few days with Nanny, so we picked her up and met my dad in Aylmer for an early supper.

By the time we got home and unpacked groceries - Ricky and Maddy headed to darts and Tanner and I relaxed at home.

Saturday morning Ricky and Dad went to Bryson to pick up a snowmobile that my dad bought then picked the kids up and headed to the camp for a bit.  I took advantage of the empty house and did some much needed cleaning.  I vacuumed and scrubbed the floors.  

Saturday evening we had a 50th wedding anniversary party to attend at the Legion and then Tanner and I headed to Leslie's for a sign painting party.

Sunday morning - the morning of the dreaded time change.  I couldn't kick myself out of bed, but I had to teach Sunday school so I got up.  I made a pot of beef barley soup, headed to Church and then met Ricky and my parents back at the camp.  What a beauty of a day.  We spent the afternoon snowmobiling and sliding, had hot dogs and I got to cuddle with Owen.

We got home after 3 pm and we were all beat.  We grabbed a quick supper, had our baths and showers and settled in to watch Big Brother.

Thursday Ramblings

- this week is March Break and the kids have been at Lindsay and Ryan's...Maddy has been babysitting and it's a win-win because Tanner can go to hang out with Sam.

- we felt bad that they didn't get to do anything fun for March Break so.....we took tomorrow off to take them to Flying Squirrel and lunch.

- been swamped with numbers at work this week...since our Finance Manager left two weeks ago, it has now become my responsibility.  I like having the extra work, but the numbers confuse me sometimes.

- the good thing...at my year end review, I am going to propose to my boss that I take some accounting courses to get better familiar with it all and a pay raise will come with that.

- we handed in our income tax this week...it would be lovely if we got a big chunk back to pay off some debt.

- Tuesday night we had our March Break fun night at Guides.  We arrive earlier than normal, have supper together and then between program stuff and activities, we finish with a "campfire" then later pickup.  The problem - we had some snow fall and it was thick and wet and it took me like 30 mins to get home that night because the slush on the highway was sooooo bad.  I basically stopped when I met another car.  We made it home safe and sound though.

- I would rather have fresh snow than all this yucky, wetness and puddles.

- this weekend other than a sign party on Saturday night, nothing planned.

- I also want to start on a crafting project that Maddy and I are going to start - stay tuned!

- I am also getting sick of hearing about this coronavirus...ugh, I get it's serious but dudes, more people die every day from the common flu - it's just not in the media.

- we received an Amber Alert last night, I pray that he is found safe and sound.

{Weekend Rewind}

Friday we did not have hockey...YAY!  So, when Ricky and Maddy headed to darts, Tanner and I had our baths and then watched the real life version of Lion King and were in bed at 8:30 pm.

Saturday morning we were up and ready and out the door a little after 8 am to head to the curling rink...where we stayed all day...getting home at like 8 pm.

Sunday we didn't leave the house.  We played Clue, played the Switch and made muffins and got some meals ready for the week.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- the kind words from everyone with Papa's passing

- last night I was scared I wanted to go to the Pancake supper but had a lot of things to do...but I got to go.  Maddy helped me make my two butterscotch pies for Soup and Sandwich today, I made my vegetarian chili for Teacher Appreciation and we still got to Girl Guides on time!

- Maddy is trying out for volleyball at school today and tomorrow (weather permitting) - I am glad that she is going to do something and she loves volleyball so let's hope she makes it.

- because try outs are after school, I am thankful that Mom and Dad are around to pick her up because we aren't home from work yet.

- the calling for up to 40 cm of snow.  I feel we haven't really got a big dumping of snow, and while I am not a winter/snow fan, I do like watching snow fall when I don't have to go out in it.

- hockey is done!  We technically have two more practices but I am not sure we will go...then their "end of year" party will be in March. 

- this weekend I am going to a friends house to a "Sip and Sign" party where I will make a sign for our house.  It will be an outing.

What I'm Not Loving...

- yesterday, two days after my Papa passed away, his brother in law passed away.  Thinking of Carmie and family at this sad time.  The sisters have lost their only living brother and now their last brother in law.  

- I am not sure if it's the snow in the forecast but I have really bad sinus pain today.  My eyes are sore and I feel all stuffy.

- last night I had the bed to myself and I didn't even realize until the morning.  Maddy went on the couch and Boomer slept with Ricky all night.  I could have taken advantage of a full sprawl!
