It's Thursday, not Friday

This week has dragged on.  I worked Monday so it wasn't a short week for me, but boy oh boy, it has really gone by long.  Today is only Thursday when I keep thinking it's Friday.

Boo.

Tuesday night Ricky decided to go to darts (he had another task to do at the same time, take pictures of the hall cuz that's where we're getting married) so I told Hollie to leave Thomas with me so that she can go and enjoy the girls baseball game (and poor Thomas would be away from the bugs and heat).  I genuinely love this little dude.  He is the happiest, and even when he is upset, he is pretty easy to console.  Last night when he came, Hollie warned me that he hadn't napped.  With Tanner around, he doesn't leave Thomas alone so needless to say, Thomas had a little 15 minute cat nap after his bath.

I have been trying to think of what to get my girls for being part of my wedding.  Ricky thinks he's just getting his guys beer because they all drink it, but I don't know.  I also don't want to spend too much because 1) I'm cheap and 2) this wedding is all about budgeting haha!

I need to get to Lindsay's with my dress to see if she can "doctor" it up.  When I had alterations done, unfortunately the neck line came up more and it literally feels like I am choking.  My seamstress didn't seem to volunteer to do anything about it, so we're going to see if Lindsay can make it a V-neck or something (I keep joking that I am just going to cut a v in it myself after the ceremony part).

The other night at ball, I may have traumatized my kid for good.  If anyone knows me, you know that I am a little up front and tend to scare my kids by telling them the truth.  "If you don't hold my hand when crossing the road, you will get hit by a car...and die".  Well the other night, Tanner was sucking on a candy and I hate that, so I told him to be careful.  The first one, he sucked and chewed and all was good.  Then he had another one.  I was talking to a friend and Tanner says "Mom, what happens if I swallow this candy?"  Without looking, I just said what I always say "you will choke and die".  He got quiet and I looked over and he had this look on his face.  Oh shit!  Bad mom moment right?  I asked him if he did swallow it and yep, he did, but obviously was not choking.  Okay, fine.  We go home that night and fifteen minutes into bed, he leans over and says "Mom, am I going to die?"  Oh great, I thought it went in one ear and out the other.  I then proceed to explain to him that no, he won't die because he wasn't even choking...he was still talking to me, so that was good and NO, he wasn't going to die.  I think I better stop that phrase.

Did you hear that we are getting a heat wave this weekend?  Of course, so did everyone else.  Does it bug me?  NOT ONE SINGLE BIT because we are not getting that awful white stuff that Newfoundland got this week.  I have noticed that I tend to sweat more as I get older and I probably will be uncomfortable for a bit, since we will be outside all weekend, but luckily where we will be has a pool.  So we will keep cool and this year we aren't even tempting to tent it, we have the hosts basement!

Looks like the killdeer won't be making her debut at Ottawa's Bluesfest...if you have no idea about this, just read this.

Happy Friday Thursday!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- this week we have no soccer due to a country festival in our town...and I am happy about that

- Monday was a Quebec holiday so it was a nice quiet drive to and from work alone

- this weekend we have lots going on and taking part in our community Canada Day festivities is not one of them...which makes me sad

- we are going to the Casino Friday evening with friends on Friday, Saturday we have a family BBQ thing in Almonte and we are sleeping there and then Sunday is a 60th birthday celebration for my uncle/Godfather

- the sun and the hot temps this weekend

- the kids started daycare yesterday for the summer

- last week Maddy was presented two awards from the Women's Institute from an essay that she wrote about her anxiety.  She won first place in her age group for our school and won second place at a provincial level...she was sooo happy (and $35 richer)

- we found out last week that Ricky is not celiac after all.  Two years ago his blood work said positive for celiac disease but when the surgeon went in to confirm via endoscopy, he could not 100% confirm it...two years later and part of the process for his upcoming surgery was confirming that and after another endoscopy, there are no signs of the celiac disease!

- today is garbage day, I freaking hate garbage in the summer, it stinks so much.

What are you loving today?

{Extra Long Weekend Recap}

I feel like I never captured some of last week's important events, such as Tanner's Kindergrad which was on Thursday.

Thursday we were off, obviously for Tanner's Kindergarten graduation and while I didn't think we were going to make it, we did, phew.  Ricky decided it would be a good morning to tackle some errands in the morning which included: driving to the city, look for ties, look for dress shirt, look for a new ring (for himself), get his picture for his upcoming expired license and medical card AND pick up his boat...all within a three hour window.  Why would everything go smoothy, we came home with nothing and were at the license bureau longer than expected due to some technical glitches with their equipment...BUT, we raced home and we made it.

Friday was the last day of school but I worked and at lunch, I was able to check off another item on the wedding list - I found the ties for the guys and they weren't $65 each, thank god!  Friday evening was a chipstand supper, ice cream for dessert and an evening walk.

Saturday morning I got up and started some laundry and made a quick trip to Shawville to get a few groceries for the week.  When I got home, I laid down to nap and the kids and Ricky got ready for a party they were going to.  After unsuccessfully napping, I got up to a quiet house where I watched some TV, did my hair and got myself dressed for my bachelorette party.  It was going to be low key...we were going to Milestones for supper and then on the Rideau Canal Boat Cruise.  Despite the rain, we all had a great time.  I am so lucky to have such caring and loving friends and family.
Of course, in old people style, I was home and in bed before midnight but literally dragged my ass all day on Sunday.

We all slept in till after 9 am on Sunday then got up, finished laundry, cleaned the bathrooms and then we all got dressed and headed out on the boat for a couple of hours.  After hearing Tanner whine and complain, we came in.  I got supper ready and called it an early night.

{Weekend Rewind}

I'm back - it was a long weekend for us.

Friday I took the day off to check off some wedding things.  I dropped Ricky off at work and then I went to visit Josee and Gracynn before heading to Michaels where we met Hollie to pick out our flowers.  $300 later, that was done - check.  We walked over to IKEA while we were there and got the lace curtains I wanted for the backdrop - check.  We then went to Carlingwood where we had a bite to eat then we returned Ricky's ring - check and picked up some other wedding DIY stuff at Dollarama - check.  When we got home, my sister and Rylie were up so it was a chipstand supper and then the kids and I headed to an end of summer party that one of the kids in Tanner's class was hosting.

Saturday morning we were up and getting ready. We had breakfast and then ourselves, my sister and Rylie, Hollie and the kids met Josee, Landyn and Gracynn at a local community picnic where there were bouncy houses, a mini circus show, arts and crafts and facepainting.

The afternoon was spent doing flower bouquets...not really, I cuddled Gracynn while Josee did the bouquets.  Haha!  Then before we knew it, it was 3:00 pm and my next gang was over for the night.  I was keeping Thomas, Kaylee and Jessica for the night.  We had supper and then I went with Josee to the lady that is doing our alterations and then came home and called it a night.

Sunday morning was the Sunday School picnic, so it was a rushed morning.  It was a scorcher of a day, so I brought Thomas home to his mama and the girls came to the picnic with me.  As usual, we hid from the sun and had service in the garage and then spent the afternoon eating BBQ hotdogs, salads and lots of desserts and swimming.  They also surprised me with a money tree for our upcoming wedding.  I was so surprised...I hate not knowing things.

We headed home and decided to join Ricky up at his sister's place, so we dropped wet towels off and then proceeded to Vinton where we had another BBQ for Father's Day.  I decided to take off and come ahead home to clean the house while the kids went for a quick swim at their aunt's place.

Monday I had the day off because it was the kids' end of school year trip to Logosland. The day started off rainy and stormy but just in time as the bus arrived, it cleared up and we had the waterpark to ourselves, the kids had a blast.  I was pooped.

{Weekend Rewind}

Friday night Ricky stayed in the city to go to his cousin's place to pick up his boat so it was just the kids and I which involved chipstand supper, a quick clean up around the house and relaxing for the night.  I introduced Maddy to my all time fave movie: Steel Magnolias.

Saturday morning the kids and I headed up to Nanny and Papa's to do our annual cleaning of her windows (inside and out) and their car (also inside and out).  Ricky was heading out fishing with friends so it was just the kids and I again.  We had lunch with Nanny, Papa and Uncle Cal and then we hit up some yard sales before heading to the city to visit Josee, Evan, Landyn and Gracynn.

Another quick chip stand supper (OMG) and then we went home and I finally got one of the wedding prep things checked off the list.  I spray painted the bottles for the centrepieces.  Hollie and Thomas came by for a visit and then they took Maddy to Vicky's for a bonfire.

Sunday I was going to go to Church alone, but then at the last minute decided to take advantage of no Ricky and no kids so I stayed home.  The reason I was alone was because Ricky had taken the kids out for a fish.

I got some meals ready for the week and then just relaxed in the silence before meeting Hollie, Thomas and Jessica to go down to see if our ducks were lucky in the annual Duck Race.  Unfortunately due to high waters and unsafe banks, they were unable to drop the ducks, so it was just a draw.  We did not win but all three winners were locals, so that is always nice to see.  Tanner ended up coming in from fishing early and we swapped Jessica.  Tanner and I stopped for ice cream then headed home to get supper ready.  The rest of the night was just watching shows and relaxing.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- Hannah was able to leave isolation on Monday and was able to play in the playroom and stuff, and yesterday they got to leave CHEO!

- I got the last of the wedding date cards sent out (is it wrong that they were Save the Dates but I am classifying that as our invites...apparently some people are waiting for actual invites...oops, not happening)

- we had a "worm" situation last week with Tanner and luckily, one parasite medication dose and one trip to the emergency solved that problem (and pretty sure it was just the one that I got out)

- the way the guys at work always thank me with Starbucks cards

- even though I sort of got thrown into teaching t-ball, I think I will enjoy it more...its just a small group of 8 and more structured that's for sure, plus, I plan to use water balloons on those hot nights

- Maddy really likes baseball and has decided that she doesn't want to do soccer, she wants to help coach - that's my girl, a helper!

- my tender for the playground closed this week, so planning has started...

Happy Wednesday!
