{Weekend Rewind}

A nice weekend has come and gone and the rest of the week, I will be absent because I am very busy and away at work.

Friday

- there wasn't enough people for cards, so we didn't go
- went for ice cream and a drive to look for deer
- bed early

Saturday

- slept in a little
- did some laundry and hung it on the line
- My parents, Shannon and Rylie came for coffee and a visit
- Josee and Landyn met us at our place and we walked to Jill's to her yard sale
- got some rhubarb from Jill
- Maddy and I went on a camping experience for Girl Guides (and actually was an okay time, I was hesitant because of the bugs, but luckily, the fire kept them away)

- we made tin foils dinner, made sit upons, pitched tents, made bed rolls, visited the animals and made s'mores

- got home around 9, bathed and went to bed

Sunday

- skipped Church
- spent the day outside with Josee and Hollie while the kids played

- we might have looked silly cuz we were sitting in our chairs on the side of the road because that's where the shade was

- Josee and Landyn stayed for supper and rhubarb strawberry crisp for dessert
- baths and watched the finale of Survivor

How was your weekend?

I Love Fridays

- I especially love Fridays when it was a short week

- this week I got a free Starbucks on Thursday and I had enough stamps for a free Korean lunch too

- this week I got good news from my benefit provider who I have been fighting with and they have finally paid a $1,200 dental bill that they said they would pay then decided not to...well I fought it and won!

- I also got a recognition from work and got invited to a gala on July 3rd...in the UK!  No one else can actually attend from my group/Canada, so they are really pushing me to do it.  I have mapped everything out because I do not want to have to drive once I am there and where I would be staying would be only 17 mins from the airport.  I asked Ricky to come and pay for his own flight, but it's $3,000 there and back - eep!

- this weekend, Maddy and I are doing a "camping experience" for Girl Guides...we are going, but not sure for how long because the mosquitos and black flies are retarded in our area

- yesterday Tanner went to work with Ricky and he wore his Go Pens Go jersey

- today is a PD day for Maddy and she is having a fun day at our family centre where they will be making crafts, playing games and baking - right up Maddy's alley

- I am gearing up for a busy week next week...I will be in the office Monday and Tuesday and out Wednesday and Thursday and contemplating working from home on Friday!

- Also next week is our Tulip ceremony, BBQ, Talent thingy...hoping that I can get it all sorted out while I am busy all week

Happy Weekend!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- I'm hoping that today is better than yesterday

- to have Internet back up and working after not having it for three days

- the warmer mornings

- today is Double Star day at Starbucks for me

- tomorrow I get my free drink

- that Maddy is going to actually do something Girl Guide related on the weekend...we are doing a camping experience (without spending the night) but I am not looking forward to the bugs (they are horrible)

- Maddy has a PD day on Friday and is going to the family centre for the day, for free...winner winner, chicken dinner (except, Ricky may have to be off with Tanner because there will likely be a death in Sophie's family this week)

- sunscreen, I love the smell of sunscreen

Happy Hump Day!

{Long Weekend Recap}

Well it wasn't the nicest, weather wise long weekend, but we had a good break.

Friday my boss had told me to leave at noon - so I brought Tanner in with me for the morning since I was alone.  We left around 10 to get him a haircut, stopped to get a few groceries and picked up lunch before heading home.

Friday evening, Josee and I were heading up the hill to Jill's for a Girls Night while Ricky watched the game and the kids!  We had some snacks, drinks and chats at Jill's but were home early enough because 1) I was an old lady and falling asleep and 2) Josee's stuff was coming between 6 and 7 am!
Josee and Landyn ended up staying the night at our place and Josee snuck out bright and early.  Once the kids were up, we all got dressed and started our day.

Once we dropped Landyn off at home, the kids and I headed up to Nanny's to visit my Aunt Elaine and Uncle Dave.  When we got there, my parents were there and Shannon, Casey and Rylie so it was a nice visit...however, I woke up with a pounding headache (due to a bad sleep) so we didn't stay too long.  Once I grabbed some things at the grocery store, we headed home and I napped.
When I got up, I still had the headache but I had to get my butt in gear because it was looking like the only nice day out.
Shannon and Rylie came over and then we headed up the hill to visit Josee and Landyn.  We decided to walk to the chip truck for supper and then to the store for ice cream.  It was nice, except the stupid black flies and mosquitos.
Saturday night was another early night!

Sunday morning, Tanner and I went to Church with Shannon and Rylie.  After Church we lazed around and I got supper ready because Tracy, Butter and Tracy were coming over.  The boys got into some drinks while watching the hockey game.  After supper the power went off and then when it tried to come back on, we heard a big BANG.  We knew that wasn't good.  Turns out, a transformer near us blew so we were out of power for a good hour and a bit, which was a lot better than what the automated Hydro lady was saying.  Regardless, we had the music blaring (from the battery operated boombox that Ricky has) and we just sat around laughing at drunk Butter!

Monday morning we slept in till like 9:30 am, it felt good.  Once up, we got dressed, packed a lunch and headed to visit Ricky's dad to figure out the ramp situation for his house.  That ended in coming up with another plan or forking out lots of money!  Stupid house on a hill.  Butter and Tracy joined us and we were home by 3 pm and ready for bed.  Instead, the kids went outside for a bit, I made some homemade cookies and got supper ready.  We sat in the living room watching the Big Brother finale and caught up on Little People Big World before calling it a night.

How was your long weekend?

TGIF

- today I am only working half a day...because my boss told me this week to leave at noon

- leaving at noon before a long weekend, yes please!

- Tanner skipped daycare and came to spend half the day with me

- this weekend a friend is having a yard sale and Maddy has things to put in BUT we have company from Toronto visiting too so we have to spread our time around I guess

- I have been making essential oil potions lately LOL

- tonight is Girls Nite at Jill's...I am going BUT not too late, I had a horrible sleep last night and don't feel really good

- I found some peach flavored wine at the SAQ to try and hoping it tastes more like peach and not wine...still trying to find that wine that tastes like juice

- I also got some Palm Bay freezer pouches to give a try

- yesterday my Nanny made the decision to put her dog, Lucky down.  Poor Lucky hasn't been herself in a while and it was just time.  She is now better off and with Papa.

- Hoping that by some miracle, Josee's stuff arrives today. I know, I told you on Wednesday it was happening...well it didn't.  Apparently, the moving truck broke down "a couple of days before" conveniently right after they paid.  She called the Better Business Bureau and it turns out that they don't return calls to them and they gave them a bad rating and they suggested that Josee seeks legal counsel.  The dispatcher had told her that it could be here Friday or Saturday...so we'll see!

- my internet at work hasn't been working for almost two days now.  We have a Rogers router that I can get on to use the Internet, but nothing network related. I can get emails via phone but that's annoying

Happy Weekend!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- the weather....and looking forward to the long weekend with sun too...enough of this nice weather during the week and crappy weather on the weekends.

- I finished 13 Reasons Why and I was in complete awe at the last 20 mins of the show, very powerful and I am wondering, is there something else coming next?

- busy days at work and it's just going to keep getting busier until the end of June I think

- our Nova Scotia Girls Trip plans are in the making and even though it's not till the end of September, it's something to look forward to.

- Josee's stuff is arriving today, finally!

- my Uncle Dave and Aunt Elaine are coming this weekend from Toronto (I think)

- Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream at the local store...so yummy!

- Maddy had a much better sleep last night, Sunday and Monday nights were rough...but last night I put the diffuser in her room with Unwind burning.

- looks like Ricky is watching the game at home on Friday so that means I can go to Jill's Girls Nite which will be fun.

- that we don't have a bug problem that the elementary school up the line is having. They apparently have some sort of mites and they are biting students and staff and little is being done. Eeek.  Parents are pretty upset and keeping their kids home.  No offence Shawville, but keep your bugs there!

Happy Wednesday!

{Weekend Rewind}

Happy Belated Mothers Day to all my blogger mommies out there!

Friday Evening

- stopped at Josee's and had a quick visit

- took Landyn with us to cards so she could get some work done

- played mechanic husband to Josee and put air in her almost flat tire!

Saturday

- was a rainy, miserable looking day

- despite the rain, the kids were in and out all day

- continued to watch 13 Reasons Why

- took Tanner for a walk before the Sens vs Pens game

- was bathed, tucked into bed relaxing watching 13 Reasons Why and then Hollie, Vicky and all the kids came over to finish watching the game...Pens lost, but it was only Game 1.

Sunday

- Happy Mothers Day

- we all slept in until 9:00 am

- thought about going to Church but didn't

- thought about taking the kids to the Ottawa Children's Festival (but feared it would rain, and well it ended up being a nice day)

- I napped

- I made some confetti squares and GF banana bread

- checked on our tulips (I think we have a problem: only the red ones are blooming)

- ran to Shawville to get a few things and brought home Chinese for supper

- Dad came over for supper and took Mom Chinese home for her after work

How was your weekend?

Thursday Thoughts

1. My neighbour's son thinks I am a witch!  I always make him potions for his illnesses...haha!  He's been breaking out in hives recently so yesterday I got an Amazon order with some supplies and I made him a roller bottle of oils that contained: lemon, tea tree, and lavender mixed with fractioned coconut oil.

2. Last night was a stressful time at our house...well it ended up not being as stressful as I thought, but we were prepared.  It was Game 7 in the Pens vs Capitals series and thankfully, the Pens came out with the win moving on to the Eastern Conference finals against Ottawa.  This may be more stressful.

3. I have been listening to old school tunes lately: No Doubt, Matchbox 20, Default, Theory of a Deadman and Our Lady Peace to name a few.

4. Next weekend is the long weekend and we have no plans really.  I am just hoping for nice, sunny, warm weather!  Friday night, Jill is having a girls night but I probably won't make it because it looks like Ricky will be attending the Ottawa vs Pens game at the CTC.

5. This weekend is also Mothers Day.  I don't expect anything really for Mother's day.  It's the crafty presents from the kids that I look forward to.  For my mom...well I don't know.  I just got her a birthday gift, geez!  She did post last night on Facebook that she doesn't need anything "material", just our love ;)

Happy Thursday!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- the flooding seems to be under control for the moment...I don't think the water is rising anymore and it should start receding soon

- the overwhelming support that we have received in our community.  We had the military in helping, countless volunteers sand bagging and making food for all the volunteers, fire fighters, police, search and rescue, local businesses - so so thankful and blessed.

- that I have the option to work from home in times like this.  Sunday night, the government announced that anyone travelling from Quebec to Ontario should remain at home and govt buildings were closed in Gatineau...so Sunday night we ran to Ottawa and got my stuff and I was able to work from home Monday and Tuesday.

- I started watching the Handmaid Tale and I am quite disturbed by it, but can't shut it off.

- that we are finally going to get warmer temps, at least for the next two days

- cancelling our fundraiser for this weekend...we made the executive decision to postpone it due to the flooding...which is good because I need more time to organize AND it's supposed to rain all weekend.

- that our Paint Nite fundraiser on Friday night was a success...what would a Paint Nite be without having a sore belly afterwards from all the laughing

- that I made the decision to go on a girls extra long weekend to Nova Scotia with Lindsay, Jill and hopefully Josee.

Happy Wednesday!

Fri-Yay!

THIS WEEK...

- Monday I got to travel alone cuz Ricky had tummy troubles (due to eating egg sandwiches on the weekend on gluten filled bread).  I also dreamt that a mouse was in my bed (and it could very well have been reality).

- Tuesday was the day I got evacuated from work and spent 2 hours downtown then eventually getting my Dad to come and pick us up, leaving my car in the city.  We also missed Girl Guides cuz we just had too much excitement and my poor heart was beating uncontrollably (I'm okay now though, thanks)

- Wednesday, the neighbours drove us to work and Tanner came home from a sleepover at Sophie's.  It was my mom's birthday and we gifted her with my purchase from Edible Arrangements.

- Thursday was the one nice day of the week, nice and sunny and I had a massage!

- Today...well it's Paint Nite tonight!

THIS WEEKEND....

- we have no plans other than making a trip to the city to buy some stuff for next weekend's event at the school

- it's going to rain and rain and keep raining which means things are going to get worse and worse around our parts due to flooding.

- Ricky may have to join the cousin forces and go and save his Nanny's house in the Bay - flooding is happening there too and they need to empty the downstairs because the water is starting to come in.

- I may bake

- I may will nap

NEXT WEEK...

- I'm alone in the office which will be a nice treat.

- We have to leave early on Wednesday because Sophie has an appointment

- Maddy is cleaning up the community on Tuesday

- I will be prepping for our fundraiser event on Saturday

Happy Weekend Folks!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I am loving that I am at work...yesterday around 1:30 we got evacuated due to a big gas leak...it took hours to get it shut off and I stood outside waiting because I needed to get my car...the end result was, my dad came and rescued us and my car slept in the parking garage overnight!

I am loving that we have so many people around us that helps us in emergency situations: my brother was willing to drive us home (but he had no booster for Tanner), Hollie who was going to come and get us because she did have a booster, my dad for coming to get us with a booster (that we didn't end up needing), Sophie, our daycare provider for wanting to just keep Tanner for the night, to our neighbours James and Nancy for making sure Maddy got home from school and for driving us in this morning so that we could get our car!  Ouff!

I am loving that despite all the bad that happened yesterday, working downtown has it's perks: got to see the Snowbirds fly over Parliament yesterday.

I am loving that our town's ice cream has opened for the season!

I am loving that today is my mom's birthday and we gifted her this morning with an Edible arrangement (that I had to cart around yesterday during the emergency evacuation) and a pair of shirts and a shirt!

Here are some not so loving things:

Not loving that Josee's furniture and stuff is still in Toronto (and was expected to be in Gatineau today)

Not loving all the rain we are getting...look at our poor town AND we are supposed to get more this weekend

Not loving that I got a pedicure last week and haven't been able to show it off because of the rain and coldish temps

Not loving that our mouse is still on the loose at home (and I may have dreamt that I felt it on me last night)

Not loving that Sidney Crosby is out for at least a week due to a concussion (I have him in my hockey pool and right now, I'm in second place).

Happy Wednesday!

{Weekend Rewind}

We had a long weekend cuz we were off on Friday!!

Thursday night, Tanner had a sleepover at daycare and Ricky, Maddy, myself and my Dad hopped on the ferry after work and heading to Mike's retirement party.  It was a nice evening out.

Maddy on the ferry on the way over!
Friday, Maddy and I had all day plans.  First stop was at the orthodontist for a second opinion and well, am I ever glad I did that.  This guy took pictures of her and took x-rays then brought us to discuss.  What I loved about this guy was that he talked to the kids.  He asked Maddy why she was there and Maddy told him cuz she has a crooked jaw.  He replies by saying, is that what your dentist told you?  Her reply: yes.  Turns out, her jaw is perfectly fine.  He showed us in depth how all her teeth are aligning perfectly, even the adult ones that are to come in.  There is one minor issue with her "eye teeth" coming in crooked BUT he said he will send a letter to our dentist to pull them and then as the new ones come in, they should be directed to the right spot.  At that point, she MAY need braces for 12 months, if that!  THANK YOU DR COTE!  He told us that he could easily start treatment now and basically we would be wasting money because once those eye teeth come in, we would have to start treatment all over again.  No thanks.  So, right now, we wait to get the baby eye teeth pulled and then we go back to see him in 18 months.  He just saved me $7,000.
After that, we headed over to Carlingwood to get some clothes and have lunch.  After lunch, we headed to get pedicures.  Maddy loved the massage chairs and after an hour there, we went for a Dairy Queen treat then to the other mall before picking Tanner up from daycare.

After supper, we headed to Nanny's to wish her a happy 96th birthday.  We didn't stick around long cuz we were all pooped out.

Saturday morning, Maddy and I got up and headed to Shawville to visit my other Nanny and Uncle Craig who has been up visiting while Ricky and Tanner went for a walk in the bush.

When we came home, Ricky headed to a poker tournament and the kids and I napped.  After our nap, Maddy went biking and Tanner and I headed up to Josee's place to "watch" her paint.  Josee and Landyn came over for supper and then left cuz Josee had to work on Sunday and the kids and I relaxed.

Sunday morning I was teaching Sunday school, so Maddy and I headed there while Tanner stayed home.  Oh ya, it was also hailing and snowing this morning. I had a fun lesson lined up - I found a program that is called The Gospel according to Dr. Seuss and this week we talked about Green Eggs and Ham.  I brought the laptop and watched the video and then we had some obstacle courses with "green eggs".

After church, we watched shows, got supper ready and called it a night really early.  It was a pretty crappy rainy day so it was a good day to relax and do nothing!

How was your weekend?
