{Weekend Rewind}

Our community, along with others near and far have been dealing with floods all weekend unfortunately.  I am going to forget about the devastation we have been facing and tell you about the good stuff this weekend:

Friday I had the day off to take the kids to dentist appointments.  Good news all around - no cavaties for either of them.  We do have to meet with a specialist next week to see what we are doing with Tanner.  He needs spacers because he lost his molars so early and we need to discuss cutting extra skin on his upper lip which could be the cause of his speech impediment. 

Friday night we planned a supper at Lonestar to see Josee and just a night out.  It was a rainy, miserable night but we had good food and great chats and catch up.

Saturday I had intentions of staying in bed all day and watching shows...and that is basically what I did!  At around 3 pm we headed to the city.  We stopped to get Nanny B a card and some snacks and then took the kids to Eastside Mario's for an early supper before Gracynn's baptism.  Her baptism was part of the normal 5:00 pm mass which was a long service, but the kids all behaved and Gracynn was adorable!

After the service, we headed to Evan's grandparents for a BBQ and got to see everyone.  At the end of the night, Landyn ended up coming for a sleepover.

Sunday morning the boys were up early and I tried to get back to sleep but did not succeed.  Eventually I got up and once Josee and Evan came by, we headed to the hospital to have a little birthday celebration for Nanny who turned 98.  She was surprised and loved that she got to see everyone.  The rest of the day was spent at home - watching Big Brother and getting supper ready.

Today the kids are home with Ricky because our schools are cancelled because of the water infrastructure in town.  We are at capacity for the sewers in town and are asking all residents to limit the water use.  Having kids away from school will help with this.  Fingers crossed they aren't home all week.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- not having to wear a big coat, or actually no coat at all.  If I know I am not going outside, I leave my coat in my car.

- Mini Eggs - after giving chocolate up for Lent, I treated myself to a big bag of them on sale after Easter, score!

- visiting with Evan, Josee, Landyn and Gracynn and looking forward to supper on Friday night and Gracynn's baptism on Saturday

- I think the antibiotics are starting to finally work and I am also taking Robaxacet for my pulled muscles which I feel is feeling a little better this morning!

- I had summer plans for Tanner but they have been cancelled this week but thankfully I was able to get him placed somewhere else! He's excited to be with some of his friends all summer.

- Girl Guides being done soon...I've had enough already!

{Long Weekend Recap}

Friday we were off for Good Friday and headed to Hull to run some errands.  Dad, Shannon and Rylie came for pickerel for supper then we called it a night.

Saturday morning we got up to sad news in our community.  We have been dealing with flooding and our community is actually in a state of emergency.  Saturday morning however, we woke up to an elderly woman dead from driving into a washed out road.  So sad.  So tragic.  This woman was a pillar in the community.  She brought anyone into their home.  Her and her husband helped recovering alcoholics and addicts.  She was coming home from taking care of someone in the hospital and turned onto her dark road, and despite motorists blocking the road and honking - she didn't stop and drove right in, and drowned. 

We headed over to my mom's around noon - the kids did their Easter egg hunt and then Ricky took me to the ER.  I was in pain when I woke up.  When I took a breath or coughed.  We didn't think it would be too busy, but six hours later and a missed Easter dinner, I was sent home with antibiotics.  They did an x-ray to see if my bronchitis had spread to pneumonia and the first doctor said No and sent me for blood work cuz he thought it could potentially be a blood clot.  Almost two hours later, results came back and no blood clot but the second doctor could see the start of pneumonia. 

Sunday morning the kids got up, did their hunts and ate chocolate for breakfast.  We all got ready for Church because it was Maddy's confirmation.  We all headed there and had a lovely service with communion.  The Sunday school kids sang a song and ROCKED it.  After Church, we headed to Ricky's dad's for Easter dinner there and headed home.

Monday, Josee, Evan and the kids came to visit since they arrived from Calgary and we wanted to see them.  Hollie and the kids joined us.  We had lunch and just hung out.  After they left, Maddy and I got ready and headed to Renfrew for a girl guide activity.  We went early to have supper at the Chinese buffet and if I wasn't in pain already, I somehow managed to tweak my back.  Because of this, I had a horrible sleep last night.  I can't lay down, I am in so much pain, but I kicked myself out of bed because I had things I needed to do today.

TGI....THURSDAY

It's Thursday which is Friday because no work tomorrow...or Monday, double yay!

Evan, Josee, Landyn and Gracynn will be here this weekend for two weeks, another yay!

My nanny got her 5 toes amputated and otherwise doing well...yay!

Yesterday was GORGEOUS out....YAY AND my Korean cart was out, so another double yay!

We headed to Montreal on Tuesday for another dilation for Ricky.  We were there early so we were hoping they would take us early and we would be home on time for Tuesday night festivities BUT of course that didn't happen.  We were an hour late getting in and then once they actually went in with the scope, he didn't even need to be stretched because it was all good.  Wasted trip to me, but good news!

He enjoyed a slice of pizza on the way home.  Slowly.

Thomas had a fall Tuesday at daycare which resulted in a stressed out mom and a visit to CHEO, but luckily, he didn't need stitches, but the little bugger will probably have a scar.  I told Hollie it will be the first of many with that kid!

A family friend passed away suddenly last Wednesday...my parents and Shannon were able to attend the visitation and funeral yesterday.  My thoughts are with the Hickey family during this hard time. 

Since Maddy obviously knows about the Easter Bunny and stuff...she still wants to participate.  Every year I do a clue hunt for her but this year, instead of the regular ones that I do, I am switching it up.  She will find plastic eggs with letters.  She then will have to unscramble the letters to find the spot where her basket of treats will be!

Looking forward to Easter Sunday...so much going on.  Maddy and the boys will have their confirmation, the sunday school kids have a song to sing and we are doing communion. 

For dinners this weekend...Saturday we are at my parents and Sunday, after Church up to Ricky's dad's then Monday, hopefully a visit with the Prest's.

I hope this cough subsides soon.  I am literally driving everyone around me nuts.  I did get my Flovent discus today, so hopefully it will help.

{Weekend Rewind}

Thursday and Friday last week I worked from home so that I could cough all I want and disturb people (or the other person in office with me last week).

Friday night I had no intentions of doing yoga again because I was just feeling pretty crappy.  Maddy headed to one of her last confirmation classes while I went to bed.

Saturday morning I slept in a bit (or should say went back to sleep after getting up at 4 am).  Ricky headed to Renfrew for a dart tournament and Maddy was going to be at a babysitter's course all day, so Tanner and I headed to the city to get some Easter stuff.  Once I got back, I was wiped out.  Too much for me.  We went for a little walk to enjoy the nice air and then I just basically napped.  After supper I decided to head to the ER to get this cough checked.  My lungs were clear but there is some wheezing, so I got a prescription for pumps and hoping it clears up this week.

Sunday morning I was teaching Sunday school.  It was a quick Palm Sunday parade and then the older boys lead some games with the littler ones.  After Church and after lunch, I napped and relaxed. 

Pretty laid back weekend.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- that it's NOT snowing today

- that I am work almost alone this week, and not feeling 100% so it's a Netflix kinda week...watching Sinner with Jessica Biel.

- today Tanner came into work with me for a bit and then we are meeting his class at the Agriculture museum for a field trip.

- Josee, Evan, Landyn and Gracynn are coming to visit soon, yay!

- other than my mother spraining her hand/wrist somehow mysteriously, the rest of the patients in the family, no news is good news right?

- Maddy is doing her babysitting course this weekend.

{Weekend Rewind}

Friday my dad was sent to Gatineau to get surgery on kidney stones (I know, right, haven't we had enough of sickness and hospitals?) - anyways, Friday night Ricky headed to get ready for the poker tournament while Tanner and I hung out at home and Maddy went to confirmation classes.

Saturday morning Ricky headed to Gatineau to pick my dad up from the hospital while Mom and I headed to Shawville to get his car that was left at the other hospital.  She treated Tanner and I to breakfast, we ran a few errands and then hurried home to bring Tanner to Sam's birthday party.  Maddy was heading to her friend Olivia's birthday so I had a couple of hours to myself.  I headed to the legion where Ricky's poker tournament was and hung out with Brenda and my sister in law Sue.  Tanner and I headed home and watched Jurassic School while eating supper.  Hollie stopped in quickly to show us Thomas's new haircut, chatted for a bit and then Tanner and I headed to pick Maddy up.

Sunday morning I woke up with a cough and started to feel yucky BUT I kicked myself out of bed and ready for a day of running around.  First stop was to see my Papa who hasn't seen us in a bit so we headed there for a visit before Church.  Then we headed to Church and once Church was done, we headed to Aylmer.  The kids and I had lunch at St Huberts, we went to the car wash, Maddy spent her Ardene's gift cards and bought some clothes at Stitches and I picked up cold meds.  Once we were home, I felt like I was hit by a truck.  I went for a nice hot bath and wanted to sleep (but it was like 4:30).  We watched Big Brother and Survivor then headed to bed with chills, coughs and body aches. 

I had to be at work today for an important proposal I needed to submit only to come in to see there was an amendment and that it was extended until the 26th, lovely!

This week I have struggled with everything...especially going to the gym. 

Monday night I took Maddy up to emergency because she has had this croupy cough, once we registered and sat waiting for triage, I heard an older gentleman say that he has been waiting for triage for 3 hours (he was number 1, we were 7)...so I tossed my card back at the receptionist and got out of dodge.

Tuesday night was Sparks.  Maddy didn't want to go, so she went to sell cookies with Ricky at darts (and even got to play, Lord love us if she thinks she's going to persue a dart career).  Sara discussed the bullying issue with one of the girls mom's and I am hoping that things are going to change.

Wednesday night I was just plain exhausted.  I didn't even wanna make supper (who am I kidding, I only make a good supper on weekends now) but I did some French toast and the kids and I called it supper.  We watched an episode of Big Brother and then I went for my bath and bed...literally asleep by 7:20 pm.

My sister, who is like 27 ish weeks pregnant ended up in the hospital on Wednesday with some bleeding and pain.  After an ultrasound confirmed that the bleeding wasn't coming from the placenta, they advised her to stay on bed rest until she meets with her OB.  So that's what she's doing. 

My nanny...well she was transferred back to Hull for some tests and well, I don't really want to get into that...at this point, who knows what's going to happen next.

My uncle is moved to Quyon and settling in with my Papa.  Even though he is pretty sick - can't walk and stuff, we know he won't be much help to Papa, but at least it will be some company.  Not sure who will be watching who though?  Dad is taking him to an appointment today to see what is going to happen next...

Looking forward to the weekend...

- both kids have birthday parties on Saturday and Ricky has poker which means I may be alone at some point in the afternoon.  Bliss.

- other than those plans, not much going on

- Ricky is going to his cousin's on Sunday to fix his truck

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I am really trying to think of the positive these days but there is just so much sadness around me.  I feel like there is a grey cloud around us all these days. 
I can't even come up with a list of "What I'm Loving"....

- my uncle is moving in with my papa in Quyon because he has to be in a wheelchair and his current living arrangements he lives in the basement.  The fact that my uncle is going to be depending on a wheelchair SUCKS.


- my nanny...well, let's just say that I have nothing good to say about our health system, or at least at our local hospital.  It has been what...almost two months that she was told she was going to lose her toe...then they go to do surgery and oh, they can't do that because it has spread to the other toe, NO SHIT...well this week the whole foot is cold and there is no circulation therefore, now it's the whole foot has to come off.  Oh, but let's add in that even though my almost 98 year old nanny is screaming in pain and crying while holding her foot, it's still not an emergency.  So frustrating to see her wanting to just give up her life because she can't live with the pain.


- the weather is not helping my mood...ugh, it's April and we are still getting snow flurries here and there and stupid cold temps.  I know, I know, Spring is coming, but it just adds to the gloomy attitude.


- what does make me feel better?  going to the gym believe it or not.  My AromaYoga class on Friday nights are really good.


- as I laid in bed this week with Tanner, we were chatting and got talking about how sick Uncle Cal is.  Not sure how a 7 year old takes this.  He asked me why the doctors couldn't fix him and I tell him that they are trying but we have to be prepared that he may die sooner than later.  He cried.  Like big crocodile tears.  My heart broke.  Then, the next day I get a sweet email from his teacher saying that they were talking about germs and how antibodies protect you and stuff and Tanner shared with his class about Uncle Cal.  He told his class that he wasn't well and the doctors were trying to fix him but he still may die.  Being in the first grade, not sure how they would react, they went over and gave Tanner a big hug. 


- I volunteer once a week to Girl Guides.  Our group are Sparks which are little girls aged 6-7.  This week I found out that there is bullying going on.  Last week we had a little episode where one girl poured water on the other...we discussed it with them and told them that this is not what we do at Sparks.  We are about Caring and Sharing...not being mean.  This lead into a conversation about how "she is mean to us at school" - well guess what, this isn't school.  I spoke with a mom this weekend only to find out that we actually have "mean girls" in our group that told her daughter that she is fat when she wears her Sparks uniform and now refuses to wear it.  Well...let me tell you, this hit a nerve.  How can 6-7 year old girls be like this? What does this mean when they are 12?  OMG.  Next week's lesson at Sparks: Bullying!

{Weekend Rewind}

It was a pretty laid back weekend. 

Friday I went to Aroma Yoga and Maddy skipped out of yoga and confirmation classes because she still has that cough and zero energy.  We also decorated cupcakes for the Spring Vendor show at our Church.

Saturday morning we woke up to snow showers, ugh!  Maddy and I headed to the Church to check out their Vendor sale.  I bought some books for the kids and Maddy spent $30 on the bottle fundraiser that our Church does (basically people have donated any sort of bottles: soap, oil, homemade pickles etc, and each bottle is numbered.  For $2.00 you get a number and you find the matched bottle).  We grabbed soup to go and spent the rest of the day inside.  Shannon came to visit and Dad and her came for a turkey dinner.

Sunday morning we woke up to a lot of snow.  Maddy and I headed to Church.  After Church I decided to go to Costco.  Once we got home, unpacked, I was beat so the rest of the night was finishing laundry, making supper and getting lunches ready for the week and watching shows.
