D Day

Today we will welcome a new baby into our family.  It's been almost 5 years since we had a baby, so I am super excited and can't wait to meet her!

My sister is going in today for a scheduled C-section.  I know everything will go well, but prayers are welcomed. 

We picked Rylie up yesterday and will keep her with us for a little while to let my sister and her husband get home and settled.  Once the baby is born, Rylie will go to the hospital to meet her sister - she is pretty excited.

Other baby news - not only are we getting this new baby today but in December, we will be welcoming another baby.  My brother and his wife are expecting and we are super happy about this.  Maybe Tanner will get a boy cousin?

{Weekend Rewind}

Beautiful weekend!

Friday was Maddy's graduation day.  It was a lovely ceremony and Maddy nailed her Valedictorian speech.  We had cake, snacks and then headed home for a nap.  Maddy had a babysitting gig that night and it was her first time alone and at night.  I of course didn't stay up waiting for her, but Ricky said she was home a little after midnight!

Graduate!

Saturday we just spent the day around home.  I actually woke up not feeling that well, so after I packed a few boxes, I went back to lay down.  We all just lazed around and then headed to Barclay and Trina's for birthday celebrations.  The kids swam, the guys played darts and we had a visit with the many animals on the "funny farm".

Sunday morning was the Sunday School picnic.  After a late night, we slept in a little then got up and prepared food, packed things and headed to Lindsay and Ryan's.  Maddy and her fellow confirmands did their sermons on verses that they picked and we handed out books to the Sunday school gang.  My cousin Jared and Elaine attended with us and loved our little church group.  We had BBQ hotdogs and an assortment of salads and yummy treats and then the kids all got to swim! 

 

 

We headed home around 2 pm and of course, I had a nap.  Maddy finished packing her room and we had a quick supper.  We took a walk after supper and had ice cream and called it a night.

Graduation

Today I am working from home.

At noon, I am heading to the school to decorate for my firstborn's Grade 6 Graduation.  How can it be?  Then at 1 pm, friends, family, staff and students will all gather outside at the gazebo where there will be the graduation ceremony.  Bittersweet.

She is ready to head to high school.  I fear for her.  I fear about the things that I hated about starting a new school, a bigger school.  All of sudden you are living out of a locker, with a combination lock (which I am buying soon to have her practice all summer) and having to race between bells to get from class to class.  Stressful for me.  It's stuff that they don't prepare them and that is what scares me.  I am glad that she is going with her close group of friends. 


Maddy, Olivia and James have been together since Kindergarten.  Then in Grade 1, Madi joined them, grade 5 came Hunter and this year Patrick and Nathan joined them.  They are a great group of kids!

Today Maddy is named Valedictorian for her class and has prepared a speech for this (very stressful week for her, preparing not only this speech but she also had to prepare a sermon for Sunday).  We are so proud that she is receiving this award.  She loves school and to be honest, it just comes to her.  She always has GREAT grades and I hope she loves learning as she goes to high school.

We are so proud of you.  You have such a big network of family and friends that would say this too.  You have so many great and remarkable role models in your life.  I wish nothing but good luck as you begin the next chapter.  I want you to enjoy your time at high school - academically and socially.  As someone who hated high school, I do not want this for you.  I want you to be involved, meet new friends and strive.  You are there for the next five years, enjoy it!  Embrace all the new adventures along the way. Always remember the little ones.  The little school that modelled you along the way and the friends you made.

{Weekend Rewind}

This weekend we finally made it to Dorval to see Nanny.

Friday night was a quiet night and bed early.

Saturday morning we were up early and on the road by 8 am.  It was a really crappy day, weather wise.  It rained off and on all day/night.  We picked Rylie up along the way and after a few stops, we arrived around 11:30 at Nanny's.  She is just getting over being sick and getting her strength back up, so she was upset that she did not have homemade buns for us.  Mom brought her some soup and we just relaxed for the afternoon and visited.  Uncle Craig was arriving at 3 pm from Toronto, so we stuck around to say a quick Hello before we hit the road to head back home. 

We got home around 8 pm and we were all basically in bed.

Sunday morning the kids were super excited to get up and give Ricky their Fathers Day gifts.  Ricky took out his new Fathers Day gift (that he bought himself, a bike) and him and the kids went for a quick bike ride before getting ready to head up to Ricky's dad's for a late lunch / early supper.  We visited with Ricky's sisters, had a lasagna dinner and then headed home.  The rest of the evening was packing for our day trip to Logosland on Monday with the school for their year end trip.

Ah the day we all wait for - Friday!

Next week is going to be a busy day.  It's the kids last week of school (seriously, WTF), Ricky and I are both going to Logosland with them on Monday for their year end trip, Wednesday is the Grade 6 graduation trip then Friday is the last day and Maddy's graduation...

Her very first year of school - Kindergrad

This week...


- I attended a WSIB seminar but only lasted like 30 minutes before I snuck out and went shopping.

- I had to go shopping to buy a new bra because the one I was wearing had broke and the wire was driving me crazy.

- when I got to my parking garage, I slipped the broken bra off and disposed of it in the garbage - cleaners may wonder?? LOL

- then I just brought one of the new ones up, sorta hid it in my sweater then got in the elevator and dropped it...thankfully no one was around.

- we did what I said I would never do...we got a joint bank account (ahhhh) BUT we still have both our personal accounts, basically just transferring money into the joint one for joint bills and mortgage!

- we also secured all our new furniture and delivery for the new house: a new King size mattress and boxspring (because we had no choice, our Queen won't make it up to the bedroom and the King comes as two twins), a full bedroom set with additional dresser and two sofas.


- poor Tanner woke up Wednesday full of the cold and a bad cough that sounds painful - serves him right...he "played hooky" on Monday....karma!

- I am $325 bucks richer!  Remember that fine I received for going through the red light at 0.0004 seconds (I think I mentioned it), well I went to the courthouse to request an extension.  That's all.  I had only just received it and I didn't want interest or anything added and it was already due...so I went in...I had to plead guilty and then I had to go in and speak with the judge.  She read my rights and stuff and then she asked what I wanted to do.  I said I wanted an extension.  I told her I wasn't fighting the ticket, photo proof is hard to beat.  She looked at my address and said "oh you live in Quyon..."  "Yes, I do"..."oh, I have heard so much about the flooding on the news..." "Yea, luckily we weren't too affected, we were evacuated one day as a precaution".  She takes her pen, marks a big X and says "you have enough to deal with, fine is suspended"  Thank you ma'am...and I bolted out of there - START THE CAR!!

- I got honked a lot because I am that person that fully stops now at an orange light!

- Ricky hit a big milestone.  Tomorrow will be 4 months post surgery and he is down 100 lbs (give or take a lb here or there)...we are all so proud of him.  It hasn't been the easiest thing to get used to, but slowly, he is getting used to it.  He definetly has more energy.  He has been looking to buy a bike to go biking with Tanner and I may even get him coaching ball this year...we'll see!

This weekend...

- the kids and I and Mom are going to visit Nanny and Uncle Craig in Dorval.

- I need to get a bathing suit for Maddy.

- I need to buy graduation decorations.

- is Fathers Day and we will be going to Ricky's dad's on Sunday for lasagna supper

- it's going to rain and that means a nice weekend to pack, but I am busy, so it will have to wait!

{Weekend Rewind}

Finally - a nice, sunny and warm weekend! 

Friday night we just got food from the chipstand and hung out at home. 

Saturday morning the kids and I slept in a little and Ricky was up early to head out fishing with my dad again.  Maddy went with Momma to Shawville while Tanner and I headed to visit Papa.  Nanny was coming home for the day, so we went to help with the wheelchair lift into the house.  Once Nanny arrived, we had a quick visit before heading home. 

Once home, I was tired and thought of just laying in bed watching Call the Midwife, but then I got up and started to pack.  I managed to get all of Tanner's closet done and it's packed with bins and boxes ready for the move.  Maddy came home and started going through her stuff too.  We added to our ever growing pile of "yard sale stuff".

We went for a walk to get ice cream with my mom and then headed home where I tried to nap, again...but didn't because the kids wouldn't stop fighting.  So, instead, I got up, made supper and then we headed back to Nanny and Papa's to help get Nanny ready to head back to the hospital.

Once she was gone, we headed home and what do you know, tried to relax again before we headed to Lindsay's to babysit while they headed to a reception and well that didn't happen either.  We packed up and headed there where we watched Malibu Rescue episodes before Ricky came to pick Tanner up.  We got home around 11:30 which wasn't too bad.

Sunday morning the kids and I were up early and on the road to Aylmer.  They were offering a free fishing course for kids 6-17 where they would get their fishing license which would be good till they were 18.  We got there around 7:30 (registration opened at 8:30) but thankfully that was good because they only take the first 40 and by 8:00 am, it was full.

The kids sat while the instructors talked to them about fishing and the different rods and lures etc.  Then the game warden spoke about rules and regulations then they learned to make some knots.  They were each given their own rod and reel and license and then we headed out.  While we were in the city, we got a car wash, grabbed breakfast/lunch, did groceries then headed home.  I wanted to sleep but knowing it was Sunday, if I wanted to sleep that night, there was no way I could sleep.  Instead, after groceries were put away, we walked to see the Duck draw (no one from Quyon won), put in the air conditioner and forced myself to stay awake until at least 6:45.

Life Lately

Life lately has been a blur...I have lacked on the blogging because I have been so busy, both at home and at work.

- a security and defence tradeshow was held last week and I am a major part of that both behind the scenes and at the show itself.  I am relieved that we can breathe now that it's over. 

- on top of that tradeshow last week - I had a meeting after work on Monday then Tuesday I had Sparks, Wednesday another meeting after work and then the Talent Show on Thursday night.

- speaking of the talent show, we surprised everyone when we came on stage and performed Baby Shark!  It was a hit!

- I want to pack and get things organized but it seems so far away still...come on July 15th. 

- I did however buy some more totes and did an overhaul on the weekend...purged all the kids books that they just don't read anymore, went through books, dishes, DVD's and got the linen closet packed and ready to go.  I feel better knowing that it's done.

- Ricky and my dad took Maddy fishing on Saturday, so Tanner and I had a date day and headed to the theatre to watch Detective Picatchu.  Good movie, if you like Pokémon (which I don't).

- We were suppose to take a drive to Dorval to visit Nanny and Uncle Craig, but something came up and we are probably heading there this coming Saturday for the day.

- most of the region received an alert last night about a tornado warning (I didn't actually) but it was quickly all over social media and I think people took it much more seriously since the one that hit in September.  We had the wind pick up at home but it was blue and sunny skies.  In Orleans though, like near my sister's place, a confirmed tornado hit taking off some roofs and uprooting trees.
