What I'm Loving Wednesday

- the kind words from everyone with Papa's passing

- last night I was scared I wanted to go to the Pancake supper but had a lot of things to do...but I got to go.  Maddy helped me make my two butterscotch pies for Soup and Sandwich today, I made my vegetarian chili for Teacher Appreciation and we still got to Girl Guides on time!

- Maddy is trying out for volleyball at school today and tomorrow (weather permitting) - I am glad that she is going to do something and she loves volleyball so let's hope she makes it.

- because try outs are after school, I am thankful that Mom and Dad are around to pick her up because we aren't home from work yet.

- the calling for up to 40 cm of snow.  I feel we haven't really got a big dumping of snow, and while I am not a winter/snow fan, I do like watching snow fall when I don't have to go out in it.

- hockey is done!  We technically have two more practices but I am not sure we will go...then their "end of year" party will be in March.

- this weekend I am going to a friends house to a "Sip and Sign" party where I will make a sign for our house.  It will be an outing.

What I'm Not Loving...

- yesterday, two days after my Papa passed away, his brother in law passed away.  Thinking of Carmie and family at this sad time.  The sisters have lost their only living brother and now their last brother in law.

- I am not sure if it's the snow in the forecast but I have really bad sinus pain today.  My eyes are sore and I feel all stuffy.

- last night I had the bed to myself and I didn't even realize until the morning.  Maddy went on the couch and Boomer slept with Ricky all night.  I could have taken advantage of a full sprawl!

{Weekend Rewind}

Friday night we had hockey and it was our last practice. Tanner and I went on a supper date for his birthday before the practice.  (technically we have another practice during March Break, but since we are done games, I have a feeling we will be skipping).

Saturday was Tanner's birthday...he turned 8.  It was also his last hockey game.  My parents came over in the morning to wish him a Happy Birthday then we all went to watch his last game.

After hockey, we went to a local ice fishing derby.  The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time.  The kids played, got soaked, took turns going for rides on the side by side and checked the lines.  After the derby was finished, we were invited to Vicky and Adam's for pizza and I took advantage to bring Tanner's birthday cake to at least sing Happy Birthday to him since we didn't have a party this year.

Sunday morning we were saddened with the news that Papa Brouse passed away.  It sort of came as a shock....we knew he wasn't in the best of health since breaking his hip, but we didn't think he was "on his way out either".  Losing Nanny last month took a toll on him and he just missed her.  We are getting through this loss knowing that they are together now and I hope Papa is speaking again.

Ricky and the kids went back to the camp for some sliding while I caught up on laundry and did some meal prep for the week.

TGIF

- Tomorrow Tanner turns 8

- we really aren't having a birthday party, life just sorta got busy.  He was supposed to have a sleepover at a friends place (his birthday is today) but Tanner has had a cold/cough for the past week and his friend's baby brother just had open heart surgery and coming home soon and I don't want to get him sick...so we are changing it to next weekend.

- he plays his last hockey game tomorrow then we may head to a local ice fishing derby

- maybe I will have family over on Sunday for supper and cake

- we didn't win Chase the Ace this week, BUT looks like I am heading back to Renfrew for more tickets though because we are still looking for the Ace of spades - week 46

This was last week's winnings which means this week will be even bigger!

- yesterday I left work to attend the celebration of life for my friend Josee's mom.  It was a low key function and it was nice to have the time off and chat with friends we haven't seen in awhile.

-  next week I have a busy week of preparing food and figuring out when I should do everything: for Wednesday I need a crockpot of vegetarian chili (for the school) and I need to make two butterscotch pies for Church Soup and Sandwich.

- looking forward to the kid's report cards, especially after Maddy's first ever exams

What are your plans this weekend?
