{Weekend Rewind}

Quick recap today because Tanner is in the office with me - poor kiddo had a rough night screaming in pain complaining of a tooth ache, so it turns out I have a dentist appointment this morning so I am trying to get him in too.  Nice Halloween!

Anyhoo...

Friday night it was just me and the kids and it was a rushed night.  We got home, unpacked stuff then packed the car up, got dressed in our costumes and headed to the school for the Halloween dance.  It was a good turnout and I was ready for bed.  I had been feeling sorta off that day, every time I did anything (ex. walk to the washroom, or even speak), my heart was racing.  After the dance, I figured it was anxiety for some reason and decided to take one of my pills...well let's just say thank god I tried it at home and not at work, it knocked me out and didn't wake up till 9 the next morning AND, apparently I got up around 10:30 when Ricky got home and had conversation with him, don't remember - eek!

Saturday we had no plans other than Rylie was coming at some point.  It was a rainy day so the morning was spent cleaning and baking then we headed to Shawville, had a visit with my Nanny, did some groceries and stopped at a craft fair to see Butch.  When we got home, Ricky was home long enough to say hi, grab some groceries I picked up (mainly the rum) and then he headed back to the camp and the kids and I relaxed until Rylie arrived.  She came around 3 and then Tanner left at 5 to spend the night with my parents then Hollie and the girls came over for a little visit.  Everyone was gone by 8:30 and we were in bed!

Sunday morning I got my Sunday school lesson ready and had all of the Halloween treat bags ready.  We headed to Church with my mom.  We were few kids but it was a great time.  After Church, Rylie headed home with her Dad and we went to the new restaurant in town for breakfast.  The rest of the day was getting supper ready, getting lunches ready, finishing laundry and getting the week ready.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- that I feel better than I did last Wednesday (when we had to pay $1300 in car repairs)

- we had a visitor the other night and this is the dog that we fell in love with and have been trying to get our hands on one just like her

- I so far have...2 gifts bought for Maddy and 1 for Tanner...yesterday, I grabbed these...from a co-op group for $36, regular $80!

- that I am quick in the morning when the tooth fairy a.k.a Ricky forgot to leave Maddy her money for her tooth this week

- that I still have 7 days of vacation to be used between now and Christmas...

- that Maddy didn't wear her actual Halloween costume last night to Girl Guides, but instead wore her jammies that match Jenna and went as Jenna (her Maplelea doll)

- that Tanner is slowly getting new friends at daycare...since September, it's been just Tanner and Vicky (who is only 15 months old)...this week a little boy named Sam (2 1/2 yrs old) started and next week a little girl is starting.

- being super busy at work...the days just fly by

- the thought of snow flurries happening soon...don't get me wrong, I HATE SNOW, but it's something about that first day that it just starts "flurrying" that I like (please do not let it snow, rain or be cold for the next two weeks though when I have to drive solo haha)

What are you loving this Wednesday?

{Weekend Rewind}

Another weekend has come and gone...I can't believe we are in the last week of October!

Friday I had a hair appointment and it was the best part of my day.  My hairdresser left the salon in my building so I was with the owner this time.  I guess she is too high and mighty to wash her client's hair and has someone that specifically does that OR she knew I was a new client and wanted to impress me.  The shampoo lady literally spent 15 minutes or so massaging my scalp, I literally closed my eyes and enjoyed every minute.

After work we were going to head up to my Nanny's for cards, but it was cold, damp and rainy and I just wanted to stay in.  Madi stayed the night and we were in bed early.

Saturday morning the kids were all up early and Tanner was a cranky pot very early on.  By 11:00 am, we had eaten lunch and we were all down for a nap.  We got up around 1:30 and started getting ready to head down to the Legion to remember my Papa who recently passed away with an Irish Wake.  It was a nice turnout of people and my Nanny was gifted something from the Legion to commemorate my Papa's 45 years as a member.  The good thing about a party starting early, we were home early enough which was nice.

We got to meet Baby Max and Tanner loved him!!
Sunday morning Tanner and Ricky headed to the bush to get things ready for the hunt next week while Maddy and I headed to say goodbye to Rylie then headed to Church.  After Church we headed home and had a nice breakfast then relaxed for the rest of the day.  I had to cook my 20 lbs of potatoes for our Church's Harvest Supper and once they were mashed, packed and ready to go, Maddy and I headed down to help out.  We stopped to have a bite to eat ourselves and spent the rest of the evening visiting with people and clearing and resetting tables.  Maddy also lost a tooth while there and she won the afghan that she put her name in for.  It was a good night.  We headed home, caught up on Survivor and headed to bed.

This week...

- we spent a lot of money

- got a freaking "made in china" Kia cooler bag for spending $1,300, yay thanks Kia!

- I was very sleepy

- did a lot of running around and scrambling in the evenings and that is why I think I was so sleepy

- a guy that we know pleaded guilty to killing his friend, three years ago, I feel so bad for the family to have to be going through this

- Maddy told her class that Nancy (our minister at Church) was a Prime Minister when asked in History class...haha

- thought I was getting pink eye (because every second kid at school has it) but I think it was my sleepiness

- I played musical beds because Tanner was a kicker this week

- I was really busy at work

- finalized my Craft Fair and secured the gym and three classrooms

- we carved three pumpkins: a Jake one, an Owl and a deer head (sorry, no pics)

- we toasted pumpkin seeds, yum!

- I left work early to do groceries

- we had a rental Kia Soul and the kids wanted to keep it because it had an arm rest that came down in the middle in the back seat (small things that thrill them)

- thought about what I need to finish the Maddy's Halloween costumes

How was your week?  Have a good weekend!

5 Things Thursday

5 Things I Could Have Used $1,100 $1,300 For

(1) Wardrobe - oh the possibilities that $1,300 dollars could have bought me, because seriously, I am cheap, so $1,300 would go a long way for my wardrobe

(2) Family Pet - we have been tossing around the idea of getting a dog, with $1,300 to spare, we could get a cute French bulldog, or a pure bred lab

(3) Debt - that spare $1,300 could have almost paid off my income tax debt, could have paid off my Visa and could have been put towards my line of credit

(4) Christmas Presents - I could have been done Christmas shopping, or at least for the kids!

(5) Spa Day - with all this extra financial stress, I could have went all out at the Spa...like a day at the Nordic, with all treatments...and well with leftover, pay for friends to come with me!

Yes, I am still bitter about the cost of my car repairs which ended up being $1,300 with taxes!

I AM NOT LOVING WEDNESDAY

Not loving that I took my car in for an "inspection" cuz it was making loud noises and by 2 pm, they call to tell me that it's not even safe to leave the garage and it's going to cost $1,100 to fix it.  I don't understand, we're not even at 100,000 km and my whole brake system is done, calipers are seized, tie rod end is done and a ball joint is loose (the last two are covered by warranty thank god) but the brakes, the inspection and the wheel alignment - $1,100.

Not loving that at the same time as paying Kia, I also had to pay for winter tires on Monday...boo I hate being a grown up.

I am not loving that my plan to have more Christmas gifts bought by now has backfired due to those other two unforeseen payments.

I am not loving that I had a restless sleep on Monday night.  The thunderstorm woke me up and I laid there playing 1010 on my phone, but I just couldn't fall asleep.  Tanner was in a kicking mood that night so that just added to the restlessness.  I finally fell asleep at 4:15, alarm goes off at 5:30...yep, I could barely keep my eyes open yesterday.

Not loving that on Monday I was hoping for Chili Day at a food truck close to my work...beef chili on fluffy mashed potatoes with toppings and a lunch date with my sister but their "chili day" was a little different: beef and mushroom stew and veggie chili...just wasn't the same.

Not loving that I have nothing to wear anymore these days...two days this week I put on some dress pants that were all ready my "fat pants" and I literally couldn't bend in one pair and the other, I had one clip fastened all day

Not loving that because of said issue above, I have nothing to wear to my Papa's irish wake this weekend....ya see why I love living in leggings?

I hope everyone else is having a better week thus far!

Clowning Around

I think everyone has heard of this "clown business" going around?  I believe it's not just in Canada, it's in the States as well.  Regardless I think it's ridiculous.

First off, I am not a lover of clowns.  I am okay with nice, funny clowns that put on shows for kids and make balloon animals, but the clowns that are going around and scaring people are not cool...and the poor nice clowns are going out of business because of it.

Last week at supper, Maddy asked us about the clowns.  A fellow classmate filled her in of what was going on and basically told her, the American clowns were killing people but not the Canadians.  I didn't want to scare her but I wanted to make sure she was aware that this was nonsense business and anyone caught doing this should be penalized.  Her father continued the conversation by saying that if he meets up with one, he is going to beat the crap out of it, and he doesn't care if it's a 12 year old, your face is covered, you deserve to be beaten.  A little harsh, I know.

It makes me scared for Halloween, seriously.  At 33 years old, when I take the kids trick or treating, I am usually solo and I hate seeing any scary masks, so imagine my surprise if I meet up with a scary clown.  Eek.  I don't want my kids scared of Halloween either, it's supposed to be harmless fun.  I just hope that in Quyon, there are no scary clowns.

My daycare provider was telling me that last week, a friend of hers came home from a night shift, her husband was already gone to work, she arrived home around 6 am.  She pulled into her driveway and there was a man just standing there with a rifle at his side.  She froze, she didn't know what to do.  She drove around the block to try to cool down and called the police because just behind the bush was a daycare.  The police informed her that there was no reason to alarm parents and to alert the daycare.  This baffled my mind.  This is like a school shooting, a threat, anything that would put an establishment under lockdown, but they just wanted to keep it quiet.  That is WRONG.  They ended up finding the guy in the bush and arrested him without any incident.

However...it scares the crap out of me.  The society we live in nowadays is scary.  I want to shelter my kids from it all.  I think that I am safe in my small town but truthfully, it could happen anywhere.  Yes, I feel better that my kids are in a small school and not one that has 1000's of kids but it can happen anywhere.

These clowns have been in schools as close to Aylmer.  This weekend, I heard they were wandering the streets of Shawville which is 15 mins away from home.  What is happening to these people behind the masks?  A slap on the wrist?  I don't really know cuz I haven't really heard of any of the charges or punishments.  I just want it to go away.

GO AWAY CLOWNS!!

{Weekend Rewind}

What a busy weekend...I feel really exhausted because it was so busy.

Friday night we headed up to Nanny and Papa's to visit then headed home to get things ready for the next day, baths and bed.

Saturday morning I was woken up by the littlest human...which made for a tired mama all day.  Today was Car Rally day.  A day we all look forward to.  We packed our things and headed out for a day of fun.  I can't remember a Car Rally with such nice weather.  Of course, I prepped myself for colder temps, so I was pretty hot by the afternoon.  The rally was good and we were back earlier than normal and got to relax a bit and chat with others.  We were getting scared because we only had like 5 answers wrong but thankfully, we did not win.  We placed in the top 10 but I think it's the worse placing ever....7th place.  The kids spent the day with my parents doing their traditional pumpkin patch trip so the nice day made for a great day.  After the rally, we picked the kids up and we headed home.  I was exhausted and had a bad headache.  Ricky went to Jill's and had some drinks with friends.

Sunday morning I was up early again to get ready for the big tulip planting.  The early morning was nice temp wise but when I checked the weather channel it said that rain would start at 9:30 am, and well it didn't lie.  It downpoured for like the rest of the morning.  My dad, Toby and Ricky were down at the school drilling the holes for the tulips while I prepped everything at home.  We headed down to the school for noon and the rain was then on and off.  By the time the guests arrived and it was time to plant, it was actually starting to get nice.  However, the holes were a muddy mess and the plan I had for tulip planting went down the drain.  It will be neat to see what it looks like in the Spring.  We had little hands putting red and white bulbs in the holes and no pattern...haha!  Whatever, it's an elementary school.  After we cleaned up and packed up, we headed to the river to meet some family where we bid farewell to my Papa.  When we were finally home, I caught up on laundry, got meals ready and just relaxed.  We didn't even really eat supper, we just snacked.  Kids and I had our baths and we just vegged on the couch for the evening.

{Long Weekend Rewind}

Oh, this Monday Tuesday morning is hard on Mama...I am so sleepy...let's see if I can remember our weekend...

Starting on Friday...I think we just visited with Nanny and Papa, came home and the kids and I were in bed early.

Saturday was a gloomy, rainy, cold day.  I spent the morning making desserts for Sunday's dinner and cleaning the house.  Later in the afternoon we headed to my parents for their dinner.  After a great dinner, great dessert, the rest of the crew played cards while the kids and I watched two episodes of Sharon, Lois and Bram and then Tanner and I headed home cuz I wasn't feeling 100%. I managed to get my carrots and turnips all cut up and ready and then called it a night.

Sunday morning I got up and started peeling potatoes and getting things ready for our dinner.  We headed to Church where it was beautifully decorated.  We have two churches that we swap every month and for some reason, when we have Thanksgiving at Beechgrove, it just suits it so well.  I love it.

After Church we headed home and waited for a local hairdresser come over to do Maddy's hair.  Since September she wanted to get some color in her hair.  So Sam came over and gave her some "mermaid blue" color and a little trim.

My sister in law and family showed up and then eventually the neighbours came over.  I got supper ready and then we all sat down to eat.  After dinner, we had a cake (and other desserts) to celebrate our neighbour James birthday then after dishes, we headed outside for a bonfire.  It was really cold that night but the fire kept us warm.  We had drinks, marshmallows, the whole block of neighbours, glow sticks, music and lots of laughs.  We headed in around 10 but the party continued....so I heard.

Monday morning we could have all slept in, but of course we had to get up.  I started to clean up from the day before and then woke the kids up, got them dressed and headed to a local property where we were having family photos done all morning for a fundraiser for our school.

After the kids were done, they went back home with the neighbour while I stuck around and was the photographer's assistant.  Everything went great.  By noon, I was heading home and literally slept in between loads of laundry and making muffins.  I was so sleepy.  After a chipstand supper (sick of turkey), we caught up on Criminal Minds and headed to bed before 8.

How was your weekend?

This Week...

- I had a migraine on Monday...started on the way home and basically fought off nausea all evening...Tylenol wouldn't work...went to bed with my magic bag heated and on my head

- wore my underwear inside out one day (and not because I was re-using them haha)

- made a car appointment to have a full inspection as we are coming near to our 100,000 warranty and to make sure I don't have a wheel bearing going

- finished Grey's and watched Heartland

- bought myself a new wallet

- paid my income tax payment twice this month...which sucks because that could have been $250 extra in my wallet this week

- I received a basket of apples from our building for Thanksgiving

- Ricky stayed home on Thursday and spent the day on the soccer field cheering (and coaching) Maddy at the big soccer tournament - he kept texting me with good news...she shoots, she scores!

- I went to the dentist

- barely watched any TV

- ate at the chipstand Wednesday night cuz I was too lazy to cook but right after we ate, I marinated pork chops, made a Shepherds Pie and meatballs for the freezer...the whole "I'm too tired to cook supper" obviously back fired.

- wore sandals with multi colored-Maddy painted toe nails haha

- did a lot of Pinterest looking

How was your week?  Happy Weekend!

5 Things Thursday

5 THINGS I AM THANKFUL FOR

with Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, why not share what I am thankful for:

(1) Ricky and the kids - because well, it's pretty obvious.  There are days that I want to scream, kick and leave them behind, but at the end of the day, I do want to keep them, I do love them!  Ha!

(2) Family - this goes beyond my little family...this goes to my parents, my siblings, my in laws, my extended family. I am especially thankful that my kids got to grow up with all their great grand parents (minus two now)

(3) Job and Money - we are no means rich, but we have what we need.  We work for our money and we spend money on ourselves when needed.  I'm not gonna lie, we live paycheque to paycheque but most people do nowadays...as long as my kids are fed, clothed and healthy, the rest will come.

(4) Our Health - this is obvious.  We are so lucky to be healthy.  We are also so lucky to have the medical care when we are sick.  We are lucky to have the facilities, care and medicine when needed.  When we are sick or not feeling right, we see our doctor and get to the bottom of it.  It may take a while, but at least we're not neglecting it.  Ricky and I especially need to be healthy to be around for our kids.

(5) Great friends - without friends, we would have something missing in our lives.  I admit, I don't get out nearly as much as I should, but I am just glad to have the network of friends that I have.  Some are close and some are far away (now) - keeping in touch with them is a lot easier nowadays and I am thankful for that. I am thankful for girl hangouts and get togethers with the husbands as well.

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

- realizing you have 7 remaining vacation days to take between now and Christmas

- getting clothes from my daycare provider that are too small for her grandson but perfect for Tanner

- having my mom nearby and on call all the time, especially for watching the kids last minute.  Monday night Tanner was up a lot in the night coughing and basically wanted to take a break from daycare on Tuesday, so he stayed with her

- having great neighbours

- Thanksgiving is this weekend and we are having two dinners: one at my parents on Saturday and I am having one on Sunday with the only family that wanted to come...our great neighbours that were mentioned above hahaha

- Butter....as in my brother in law...I love that he can hook me up with tires     (I need winter ones soon)

- Monday night I bought a wreath for our Remembrance Day parade in town on November 6th in memory of my Papa Earl who recently passed away - the great grandkids will present it after the parade.

- tomorrow is Maddy's soccer tournament at school and this is the first year she gets to participate and seeing how she loves soccer, she should have a great day

- reduced price snacks instead of actually making something for a bake sale (I know, I know, lazy, cheater, whatever you wanna call it)

- being able to open the windows and let the fresh breeze come through

What are you loving today?

What's in my Purse?

First, let me say that I am not one of those people that has a Michael Kors or Coach bag...mainly because I can't justify forking out that kind of money for a freakin purse (so if you have one that you no longer want, pass it to the poor, like me haha).

I have literally had the same purse, same plain old black purse from Walmart for a couple of years.  Inside that purse, I had another purse.  Well, technically a clutch from Thirty One which I eventually used as a wallet.

I decided last week, I needed a new purse because one of my lip gloss's somehow opened and exploded everywhere.  I ran to Winner's one day at lunch and immediately looked at the clearance section.  I didn't find anything.  I kept browsing.  I find some I like, then I take a look at the price tag, gasp and put back.  Walk out with nothing.

Saturday however, I knew I was going to Value Village, so I thought I would check there, and although the selection was not the best, I did score a new one for $9.99 with no fancy name.  It has enough space and pockets that I wanted.  It was getting pretty crampy however once I put my stuff in, mainly because of my clutch so yesterday, I ventured to Winners again and bought myself a new wallet, a little more expensive than I wanted to spend but it had lots of room.

When I switched purses, what did I find:

- my clutch obviously, which holds my money and cards
- my cheque book
- my pass for work
- 2 Younique lip glosses
- my owl pouch that is basically a mini pharmacy
- my first aid kit, stocked with Disney band aids
- my glasses for driving
- a grocery list
- a mini screwdriver set
- floss
- travel tooth brush and paste
- asthma pump
- tampons
- a hard candy from a Chinese restaurant
- a USB stick
- a pair of black ear buds
- a clip and a ponytail holder

What is in your purse?
